“Very Cozy chalets; poor customer service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2011

Stayed here to ring in the new year in a group of six.

The following were some events that we experienced that prevents me from giving this resort a good rating:

-A 3-hour electricity outage on the entire resort on the evening of Dec 30th. During this time, the heating was off, causing the room temperature to drop to 17C, making for a very chilly first night. No access to reception through the cottage telephone line during this time (because it is an internet-based line and requires electricity). Instead, called reception multiple lines through personal cell phone during the outage, but no pick-up. No reassurance, alternate heating or light sources were provided during the outage.

- A perceived decrease in level of customer service received by Anglophones in comparison to Francophones. This was apparent while waiting in line at the reception during check-out as well as during phone call to reception in the middle of the stay to inquire about extended checkout. In general the Anglophobia seems to exist in the entire region and was experienced by our group throughout the local villages of Labelle and Ste-Agathe-des-Monts.

Other than that, the cottage itself was great: very clean, fully-equipped, and cozy.

Thank you '1Bosanac" for your kind remarks stating "the cottage itself was great: very clean, fully-equipped, and cozy". We really appreciate your taking time to write to us.

I wish to apologize for any inconvenience you experienced during the 6:30pm to 8pm regional power outage. I have checked with our GM who informed me that a member of staff was sent around the resort to visit each chalet to verbally explain the situation and offer extra provisions including extra candles and water to those who needed it. All of the chalets are equipped with torches and log burning fireplaces that are designed to provide additional heat if necessary.

After thorough investigation, it would appear that your perceived Anglophobia remark is an isolated case and I wish to assure you of Blueberry Lake's commitment to make everyone feel welcome and at home. Every member of the Blueberry Lake Resort team draws pleasure from meeting and helping our guests to enjoy the many activities and quality time environment that Blueberry Lake provides.

We sincerely hope to see you again at Blueberry Lake and once more, thank you for writing.

Spent New Years here with a group of friends. We all had an amazing time. The chalet is fully loaded and features a modern kitchen, hot tub and flatscreen tv's. Rooms were clean, modern, comfortable. Staff was very helpful and sent a maintenance technician asap when we had some problems with the internet and the coffee machine.

Would recommend it to anyone looking to escape to the mountains outside Montreal for a long weekend or week.

A bit more than 2 hours away from Ottawa, it's a great destination for a weekend away. From the photos online you can see that these cabins are beautiful and tastefully decorated but, importantly, there really isn't anything missing. All the amenities of home are provided; including iPod docking station, towels, washer/dryer and good knives.
All the bedrooms are of really good (large!) sizes; our cabin (#50) had 2 king rooms (both with lovely sitting areas), 1 queen room, and 2 rooms containing a pair of twin beds. The bathrooms are modern and pristine; 2/3 had big jacuzzi tubs in addition to larger glass showers. It's also worth mentioning that the couches are all very comfy/cozy and the floors are heated. Our cabin also had a hot tub, 2 flat screen televisions (with satellite tv), and a pool table. The reception building has a spa (with sauna, steam room and huge hot tub/pool) that guests can use for no additional cost. We couldn't have been more impressed. Check-out is 10:00 AM, but for $50 + tx you can stay until 2 PM.
Our only real complaint was the $100 cleaning fee PER pet (dog).

We stayed there with family and friends for two nights. Everyone loves it, gergeous chalet, cosy rooms, enough private space for everyone, couples can count stars in the sky when you are in the outdoor hot tub which is surrounded by the trees at night. It won't be much more romantic than that. Will be back for sure.

This is what a getaway is supposed to be about. My GF rented a log cabin for my 40th b-day and we headed up for 2 nights with a few friends arriving later. The place is spectacular and has everything you need to have a great time! She even made me a Blueberry b-day cheese cake.

We've got a very good deal for $300 per night (original ~$600), so we decided to try. If you live in Quebec, I think that would be a good place to go, because it's not too far from Mont Tremblant Resort, you can drive there within 20 minutes.

The resort so called has different facilities, but the outdoor swimming pool is not big, without any place for changing. The indoor swimming pool is located inside the "club house" and it is tiny I would say. The lake is not very big, and there are pedal boat, kayat and boat for you to use. You can fish in the lake, but we've tried, and there is no "big" fish, we've caught more than 100 fish, but all of them are only 3 inches long head to tail.

The houses are new and clean, excellent condition and a good place to stay for a few days and relax. We've rent the lake view house, but we cannot see the lake from the house at all!! You have to walk a little distance from the house to the lake side, and in between, all big trees. The view is all blocked by those trees. So I recommend you don't really need to pay extra to get the lake view house. The road to the resort and around the resort are like unfinished. You feel like you are driving in construction area with rough road, be prepare to wash your car after your stay. The road from the main road to the resort (~5-10 mins drive) are hilly and not wide, personally, I won't want to drive there during snowing season. Oh, one more recommendation, don't hang the clothes outside your house, since one day, we park the car outside the house. When we went back to the house, the car is clean (so called, without any obvious dust on top), and on the next morning, the car is full of sand and dust. At the same time, we saw people hang their clothes in the porch just not far from our car (next house).

In a word, a good place for reunion purpose, because your mean purpose is just walk around and talk with your family and enjoy, relax... However, if you are looking for a real resort, I think you should go to Mont Tremblant for a better facilities. $600 is too expensive for a night as we think. $300 is just about right!! (If you can get the deal again)

We got a great deal through travelzoo for this resort and it was well worth the price. The chalet was beautiful fully equipped with plates, utensils, pots and pans. The chalet was beautifully constructed with the rooms nicely spaced out on all three floors giving everyone some privacy if needed. The reception was very friendly and helpful. We unfortunately only stayed for 2 nights but had a chance to take advantage of the hiking trails, hot tub, steam room and heated indoor pool. I will likely consider returning if any more specials come up.
