“romantic weekend getaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

This was my first weekend at these chalets and I loved. It is the perfect romantic getaway. There are 4 new chalets that I recommend (#91, #92, #93 and #94) Really nice place with full kitchen, an indoor jacuzzi and sauna and a real fireplace. I will be going back! You can also book a professional massage to make it even more relaxing.

We've stayed at the Chatels Lac à La Truite many times as a couple and then twice once we had kids. We always loved the view on the Lake and thought we were getting a great deal. Once we had kids (that spend A LOT of time playing on floors) we started noticing things that didn't really bother us as a couple bothered us as parents.

For the price they charge, they should REALLY do some updates on their chalets:

1st you have the original carpet that was installed in the '70's. It's full of stains and cigarrette burns and god knows what other kinds of unknown matter are incrusted in those carpets! They should rip out the carpets and install some floating wood floors or real hard wood flooring.

2nd, the furniture...while I understand that it is a rustic chalet, they should invest in some 2012 type furniture. The couches are super uncomfortable, used and not particulary inviting to sit on in hot and humid summer weather (oh, yes, I forgot to mention that there is no air conditioning in their chalets). Let's just say I was born in 1972 and my parents had the exact same furniture in our family home when I was growing up, it's long gone since the early '80's ;)

3rd, while the balcony is wonderful to eat, sit, relax and enjoy the views......everytime we stayed the furniture was dirty and sometimes broken. I don't particularly want to wash down patio furniture on my vacation, I do enough cleaning at home.

4th, the location is on the lakefront (very nice) and the area is beautiful to walk around, however at night as you are trying to sleep, cars and trucks drive on the main road right behind the bedroom windows so you are constantly woke up by the roaring sound of trucks.....

With these negatives being said, I also found to reception staff indifferent to the guests. We experienced a reservation problem 2 years ago with another chalet reservation and needed a place to stay for an extra night. We arrived at the reception and the receptionist seemed quite bothered that we were only staying one night (yes, we paid almost 400$ for 1 night). She almost gave us a dirty look when we said for 1 night......I mean aren't you happy to be making all that money on your crappy chalet????? NO customer service in our opinion.

We did enjoy the lake and the surronding streets for walking around, very peaceful. We also enjoyed the easy access to the lake. We spent our days in the sun and in the water and loved that part. We however found that for the price, the accomodations are very worn out. And I really have a hard time spending my hard earned money on someone who greats me as more of a bother than a paying patron. I guess they feel we are doing THEM a favor by renting their chalets and guaranteeing them a job.....

All this to say, there are other options....we found other lovely chalets, in the same area, that are rustic but with hard wood floors throughout, 46" plasma tv with dvd player and stereo system, air conditioning AND an INTERIOR PRIVATE POOL in our chalet for about $500 less per stay.....

So if you like old, dirty and very expensive accomodations I suppose les chalets Lac à la Truite would be good for you, if not save your money and go somewhere else.

Room Tip: stay somewhere else

We've been to the Chalets Lac a la truite in November to have a small getaway, and a getaway we got. The place is rustic but well maintained. The houses have a sauna, a bubble bath and a hearth, with a spa outside.

The view on the lake is beautiful, and the spa really nice during the cold evenings. Prices are very acceptable too.

It’s definitely a great place where you can have a big family reunion, get together with friends or just a quiet vacation. It has a lot to offer and is less than an hour drive from Montreal in a midst of the mountains and a wonderful scenery.

My family and friends were traveling form Massachusetts, USA. The trip went by much faster than anticipated since most of the time we were driving through the region on the White Mountains enjoying the beautiful views. As a part of our plan we decided to spend a night in Montreal before getting to Ste. Agathe. It was a good decision since there is always plenty to do and lots of great restaurants in Montreal.

We stayed in The Chalet Château with a large group of friends. The house is very luxurious and unique. Beautiful iron chandeliers in a spacious high ceiling family room, stone fireplaces, inviting bar area, sauna and an indoor pool it’s just a few things that pleasantly surprised us the minute we walked in there. All the rooms in the house are clean and efficient and comfortably accommodated our large group. Big dining room leads to a nice deck and we wished it was summer time so we could dine outside to enjoy lake and mountain views.

The Sainte Agathe town is a just a few minutes away. There are quite a few artist’s shops and restaurants there. Most people speak French but we communicated in English and everyone was very friendly and helpful. Another unique experience we had while vising there was the outdoor spas. There is nothing like it in New England. Not only women but also man enjoyed heated outdoor pools, saunas, steam and relaxation rooms. There are great mountains around for mountain skiing or snowboarding, places for cross-country skiing, snow showing, sleigh rides etc... The Chalets Lac à la Truite are located right next to a fresh water lake. We would like to visit there during summer months for summer vacation and take advantage of the beach and other pleasures the beautiful nature there has to offer.

If you are looking for warm, cozy and comfortable stay, look no elsewhere! We had an excellent time and can’t wait to go back.

After a few hours drive from Massachusetts, we felt like we were worlds away. This resort is located just north of Montreal, conveniently off the main highway. Sainte Agathe des Monts is very charming and VERY French!

When we got to Chalets Lac a la Truite, we received a warm welcome from the owner and host Diana, who was very helpful and had many suggestions for activities in the area. Besides downhill skiing a short drive away, there is a big snowshoe and cross-country ski rental house close by with many trails to choose from; everything from flat trails around a lake to guided hikes along wooded mountainous trails. Diana can also recommend a place for horse drawn sleigh rides. We took an amazing ride in the evening through the woods, under a starlit sky.

AND THE SPAS! There are lots spas in the area. You pay a small entrance fee for a day of outdoor spa-ing! These facilities are amazing. Each have numerous hot and cold outdoor pools, and tranquil indoor relaxation rooms. An experience you won’t find anywhere in New England.
The village of Sainte Agathe has a lot to offer, too. Lots of shops and restaurants, or just a great place for a stroll. Ask Diana, she had some great recommendations for restaurants.

There are many different types of rentals at Chalets Lac a la Truite, depending on your preference and number of guests. There are about 20 chalets at this resort to choose from. They all have their own whirlpool tubs, saunas, fireplaces, modern kitchen and spectacular lake views. There is an outdoor spa too overlooking the lake for the smaller chalets for couples.

The new clubhouse with an indoor pool is under construction, and will also offer their guests a spa experience right on the property. We can’t wait to go back!

I just spent 4 wonderful days at Chalets Lac a la Truite with my friends celebrating a friend's birthday. The chalet chateau was spectacular - nice use of space with a combination of spacious, plentiful rooms that still maintian a sense of privacy The owners and management team were extremely accomodating. This was my second visit here and I can't wait to come back for a third time. I can see the large chalet chateau as being a perfect place for family reunions, corporate events, or special occasions needing to accomodate large groups. The smaller chalets are great for families or romantic get aways. The property is just lovely, with a fresh water lake in full view of most chalets.

Room Tip: Ask for a chalet with a view of the lake.

If you are looking for a place to relax, this is it. It offers a nice and comfortable cottage with a full kitchen, an indoor jacuzzi and sauna and a real fireplace. There are also lots of places to go cross country skiing a short drive away and there are lots of small roads to walk around. It was just so nice to go back to the cottage after a long walk or after skiing and sit by the fire with a drink and a book and admire the view. Very relaxing!! We will definately go back.
