Perfect castle, make sure you go inside, well worth a careful explore, there is far more to see than it looks. We had a guide as well that showed us around and brought it all to life. Don't miss the fish in the moat, enormous.

Am a NT member, so entry was free.
Nice easy parking and a short walk to the castle, which is well worth the time to visit.
Moated with the most enormous Carp in it.
A fascinating place with a fascinating history.
Glad I went.

We visited on the way home from holiday. Didnt go in the castle as cant manage stairs but the walk around the castle's moat offered some great shots with the camera. kids loved the archery as well. All in all well worth a visit to view this grand spectacle.

As a family of five we visited the castle on a bank holiday in which there were some fantastic activities put on such as cross bow shooting, jousting, costumes, etc. The prices were reasonable for the activities but not so much in the cafe and shop. The castle itself is very picturesque with the surrounding moat with lots of huge carp that compete with the ducks for the bread. There are three main towers you can climb but watch the steps as they are very steep. If your a National Trust member it's free including the car parking but on the busy day we went the car parking was a bit disorganised. We found it a good place to visit on our way to battle as its only about 15mins drive from the famous site itself.
