“Majestic and Friendly One-of-a-Kind Lodge”

We had the incredibly luck to stay at the Island Lake Lodge for the past week. What a delight. We had a lovely view from our room in one of the three lodges that make up this amazing place--Cedar 3. Each morning we had breakfast and ate dinner on the deck of the biggest lodge, looking out on the Lizard Mountain Range. The food was outrageously good and the menu is very creative. We ordered something different every day with maybe a repeat on the lemon tart and the frozen chocolate mousse. The view is of spectacular, craggy mountains that people who are much better skiiers and boarders than we are ski/ride in the winter. Takes my breath away to even contemplate the courage and skill it must take to do the CAT skiing they do here! The place has been in lots of movies and books and there is quite the story to this 7,000 acre creation.
We were content to paddle the canoe around (no fish rising but tons of may flies) and to see a bull moose swim past us. I took a hike with a guide (Megan, she's GREAT) that was very reasonably priced, and learned a lot about being bear-aware and flowers and trees. There are many different hikes to do from easy to challenging. The hot tub was also a great draw, we were always the only ones in it and one time watched a big storm move through under the cover of the deck. Fantastic!
There is a really friendly Lodge atmosphere here. The staff seem to work well as a team. There is a youthful vibe.
Make sure to remember that the Lodge is a 10-mile trip in and out, especially if you are doing anything in town like going fishing with a guide. There was a bit more driving than I'd hoped but it was all worth it. Sometimes the music during breakfast was a bit more jaunty than I would have liked. The mountains are so surreal, just low-key music would have suited my morning mood better but I know that everyone is different in this regard. Lastly, the pillows were BIG and hurt my neck though I never did ask if they had something smaller. Usually this isn't a problem for me, kind of weird.

Room Tip: Cedar 3 has wonderful views of the mountains. Next to the common hot tub though if you are a light s...

I watched a full moon traverse the Lizard Range at the end of March this Year from the balcony of room 3 in the Tamarac lodge, surreal experience. Then I got to ski, with only 5 paying guests and 7000 acres of snow the great guides and cat operator and lodge staff plus using the CEO,s skis a wonderful memorable experience .

Room Tip: rooms 3 or 4 in the Tamarac are best.

We just came back from another great trip to Island Lake Lodge. From check in to check out the staff were outstanding. My daughter hurt her knee on the first run and had to be taken off the hill. All the staff could not do enough for her. The food, accommindations, and the guides are first rate. This is my 3rd trip to ILL and I will return for sure.

third year heading into the mountains for some of the best skiing ever. Guides, food, scenery and skiing. Does not get much better. We had come this year without as much fresh snow, but our guide Rick found us snow with a little extra effort..... on just about every run.... Try doing that at any resort.

Room Tip: Tamarack is the newest and quietest - Cedar is good on the upper floors - the lowers can be louder i...

What do you get when you combine a spa experience, spectacular scenery, amazing cuisine and world-class skiing? Island Lake Lodge! This was my 12th trip to Island Lake Lodge and they continue to get better and better. The lodges are beautiful, the staff is top notch, the guides are warm, friendly and knowledgeable and the skiing is amazing! The most impressive part is that Island lake Lodge listens to their guests. Every year I have seen improvements and suggestions implemented. I stayed in the Tamarack Lodge with a balcony and spectacular view of the 3 Bear Peaks. Ask to be on the "view" side. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The spa treatments were amazing and they brought in extra staff, to accomodate the needs of the guests. It is truly an amazing place and experience.

We were here for a wedding in July 2012 and were very impressed. I am gluten intolerant and my girlfriend is lactose intolerant. The staff catered to our restrictions and made some amazing meals. I was very impressed with the food, the service and the helpfulness of the staff.

Nearby hiking trails are maintained and very nice. The lodges have a lovely rustic feel but with hot tubs! Scenery from the lodge is great but the lake is very questionable up close. Would have been nice to do some of the longer hikes but didn't have time for them.

One downside is the road to get to the lodge, which is a little precarious with cars going both directions and a shear drop on one side. This could be dicey in winter.

We had such a great time on our wedding weekend, the staff was so friendly felt like we were family, the food was amazing all our guests didn't want to leave. it couldn't have been a more perfect weekend, can't wait to go back. So much fun.

Room Tip: Tamerack rooms 3 and 4 offer the best balcony views there.
