I have stayed here many times as a contractor. It is very good for what you pay for. Nice, basic rooms, friendly staff, good location. I had a couple of room issues (broken microwave) that were fixed right away.

Internet coverage is great and fast - great for Netflix!

Room tip: Rooms in the separate building not on the main road have less noise from the highway.

I would have liked to give this property a better rating as it does have potential to be a great place to stay considering the proximity to ski at Fernie. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh any positives. First of all, the property is over priced for the type of accommodations it is. We have skied in Montana, Alberta and other places in BC several times and the properties were far superior and less expensive. We were there over family/reading week in February for 5 nights so understandably accommodations are in demand but not at their price. We booked a 2 bedroom suite as we needed to cater to our daughter’s food in tolerances. Upon arrival, check in went smoothly but the suite was overly perfumed as if to cover up something. The heat was turned all the way up, so we had to turn the heat down, open all the windows and keep the door open for a bit to get the odour out and cool the place down. The fan was not working in the tiny bathroom and the cleanliness was not up to par but tolerable. There is not an exhaust fan above the stove so if you use the oven chances are the smoke alarm will go off. The beds were comfortable enough but the bedding is quite dated as is the overall unit. The space is sufficient for 4 people but any more would be a bit crowded. There was good wifi which was a bonus. On day 2 and 3 we noticed a weird odour almost like sewage in the suite and when we went to report it, we were told that the owner was away. They told us they would have them check it out the next day which they did, but as the odour is intermittent they did not smell anything but did fix the bathroom fan which was a bonus. Toilet paper was not replaced as well as the towels they took away so we had to go down and request. Parking can be an issue if you come in late and there is no overflow that we could find except street parking. The breakfast is basic and instead of using a proper coffee maker they have a Kurig which in my eyes is a big waste to our environment and takes forever when there is a line up. I ended up making coffee in the room. On our last evening just after midnight, we heard quite loud voices and then clanging of some sort as if someone was fixing a pipe. It went on for quite awhile and only stopped once we pounded on the floor several times as quite time starts at 11pm. The kicker is that when my husband went to report the issue the next morning, he was informed that the unit below ours was the owners apartment and that that is the time they can get things for the next day. No apology what so ever! No incentive to teturn. So if you are ok with staying in an overpriced, smelly unit with inconsiderate owners who do not apologize then go for it!

Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. First of all, I did not inform your husband that the owners suite was below the suite you were in. He just assumed it was the owners suite. The owners were not even at the establishment during that time. The Keurig that we use in our breakfast area has recyclable pods. When Van Houte delivers a new order, they take the old cups and they are sent to a cement plant to be ground up and put into cement, therefore, doing our part for the environment. The breakfast is a normal continental breakfast as our contract with Subway will only allow that. It is for guest convenience, which many have found phenomenal. As for the price of our establishment, our prices are competitive to the other motels in the area.

We have been updating all guests rooms and other parts of the hotel for the last year. The bedding has been updated, the heating, new toilets, new vanity sinks, new linens of every kind. We also just had security cameras installed for guest safety. We will continue to be updating the entire premises.

I apologize for the noise that you heard. It was very inconsiderate and that person has been spoken to by the owner and management.

I stayed at this hotel over the February break with some friends because we were skiing at Fernie Resort. We stayed there for 4 days, and 3 nights. I was back home for 3 weeks when I could not find my bathing suit anywhere. I relaized I must have left it at the hotel. So not only did the hotel NOT call to let me know we forgot our bathing suits. They also charged us $50 for shipping. $50 FOR SHIPPING. That is over half the price of what it costs to stay there.

Room tip: There are certain rooms that are separate to the main building. Be wary of this.

Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. Normally we do not keep lost and found for 3 weeks as we do not have the space for it all. We are not responsible for guests items that are left in the room. We do not charge anyone for shipping their things back to them, we use purolator and purolator charges the guest. That charge has nothing to do with the hotel and staff at all.

If you are looking for good value plus some necessities, choose this Motel. The rooms are clean and appropriate. The complementary continental breakfast is a bonus plus a pool and very small hot tub. Location is great although the front rooms can absorb some highway noise. Very nice and helpful owners.

The room smelled bad like there had been a water leak. There is an obvious patched part of the ceiling where there was a water leak (see photo) There are stains on the bed spreads (see photo) Ice in the parking area and near the front doors was not cleared making it hazardous just to get to your car. In general the place is just nasty. The manager was contacted twice by hotels.com and she refused a refund.

Room tip: The place is nasty.
