“Fernie was very good.”
Reviewed March 24, 2009

Lots of snow in mid March, friendly staff, no waiting at the ski lifts, plenty of runs for all levels. Not much in the way of shopping.... or elegant restaurants but brasserie and lodge restaurant were nice. Will go back.

“skiing in fernie”
Reviewed March 30, 2008

Scenery and snow fantastic.
Not an extensive ski area at present and could definately do with financial input. The chairlifts are slow at getting you up the mountain. The runs are poorly signposted. The mountain facilities are extremely limited with only 2 eating places up on the mountain. The facilitices reminded me of Aviemore and Glenshee 30 years ago so not good! The toilets on the mountain are to be avoided at all costs - we certainly did - enough said. Getting to and from the pistes was by a bus service that to begin with was every half hour but by the end of our trip was hourly. Hate clock watching on holiday but entirely necessary so as not to miss the bus. One day left slopes early and had to wait hour and half for bus.
Apres ski - a few shops to browse and limited choice of places to eat. Went to watch local ice hockey --Go Riders Go - not to be missed. Fernie has along way to go,both on and off-piste,before I would be tempted back. The mountain company and local community need to get together and plan. Potential is there but as it stands I'll be skiing elsewhere next trip.

we hope that you will try us again. We now have added new on-mountain dining options. There is the Lost Boys Cafe (new 2008), Bears Den, Big Bang Bagel (new), Lizard Creek Lodge and Griz Bar, Kelseys, Slopeside (starbucks - interior seating change - added more seats). We have also built new on-mountain bathrooms at Lost Boys Cafe and also enhanced the on-mountain bathrooms at Bears Den. We have built new bathrooms with no flow toilets which have significantly reduced our water use. The community of Fernie is only 5 minutes away with over 20 dining options and some great new must visit places like Picnic, Yamgoya and Curry Bowl to name a few. Hope to see you on the slopes of Fernie Alpine Resort again soon!

“First Fernie Ski Trip”
Reviewed January 18, 2008

Impressive snow and trail system. Over 25 guys in our group took a weekend away trying to relive our youth. We skied / rode for 2 days. The mountain, snow, and views were unforgettable.
We stayed at the Stanford Hotel close to the ski hill. Their outside hot tubs saved our sorry muscles. If you're thinking of a drive ski trip, I suggest Fernie.
