Description: The Loaf has been growing and evolving for seven years, from a start-up in a miner’s cottage to a firm favourite in Fernie’s Downtown core. Owners Phil & Claire Gadd have always designed The Loaf to be accessible and affordable, a neighbourhood restaurant where everyone is welcome and feels comfortable, no matter what the time of day. With excellent food, made from scratch on the premises daily. Now its time for some changes: updating the interior to make a more comfortable dining experience, extending the list of craft beers and offering more wines and liquor and creating an environment where the focus is on exceptional food, good company and the relaxed dining experience. “Our perfect wish for Fernie is a place with craft beers, a good solid wine list by the glass, pizzas, pasta, and some other nice mains, but nothing too fancy. And that’s exactly what we’re aiming to do at The Loaf.”

Had a group there--all the food was good--very good--except the desserts were tasty but a bit dry. Sandwiches, soups, etc, excellent. Would go again.

Thank Charlie E

Working in town on and off I get tired off Tims for breakfast. If I'm sitting at the breakfast counter right infront of the girl making coffee(long time for 1 coffee) who refuses to recognize I'm there, do I still have to walk to the till to order even if there's nothing else going on?I've tried to have breakfast here 3 times and eaten only once
You have to take what you can get for service in this town but wow...... At least i know I'll eat when I'm at Tims

I was so excited to try this place. We had been here last summer right after they opened and it was super busy so we bypassed. This time was no different and the wait was SO long to order...didn't like having to stand in line for so long. Not sure if it was the customers or the staff, but it appeared to be a bit of both. Had the artichoke soup...it was VERY watery. The beet salad was fine, but very average. Given the atmosphere and prices, I was expecting something more elevated.

Dwelling in the Elk Valley and East Kootenay region of south-eastern British Columbia, Loaf stands tall in Fernie, BC. The delicacies it offers are must-haves. Particularly, their award winning pizzas. I have tried most of them and will continue as each one is unique with a perfect blend of toppings. Moreover, the creamy gooey cheese makes every bite of the pizza mouth-watering. The best part about Loaf is that it specifies in its menu the ingredients of not only the pizzas, but also the pies, starters, main courses and salads. To top it all, you can enjoy a glass of wine or pint of beer while relishing every bite of your choice of Loaf’s special. Try it now to know what it feels like.

My partner absolutely loves the sourdough bread, the sausage rolls, the meat pies and the quiche pies. I can't have gluten so sadly cannot indulge but it all smells so amazing. I sure wish they would bake some gluten free. :)
Their products are not inexpensive but they are the only artisan type bakery in town. They are easy to find now that they are on the Main Street. The staff can be a wee bit rude.
