Very expensive for the amount/quality of food you get- no better than a generic sandwich and the soup & sandwich special did not have an option of what type of soup you could choose. They had curried yam or mushroom. We requested mushroom only to be informed that it would cost $5 EXTRA for the same size. Ridiculous. Would not recommend. Plenty of other bakeries with better food/value in Fernie. We will not return.

The Loaf has thought of everything for a perfect kids night out: simple menu choices, mini veggie bowls and bread to start, a bag of toys for the younger kids, and crayons for the older kids. Beautiful presentation, knowledgeable and approachable staff. Food was excellent, Baked goods-excellent.

Based on a recommendation from our B&B host we went there this evening. They have moved to 641 2nd Ave in Fernie, BC into new upscale digs, very nice. We were early and the first ones eating there tonight but very soon the place got real busy and ordering our carrot cake desert (very yummy) took quite a while. We enjoyed a light meal of fish cakes and carrot and ginger soup and some white wine. A very nice place to eat. We will recommend it.

We arrived in Fernie without a clue as to where to eat. We came upon Loaf and it looked inviting. We could not have been happier to start our Thanksgiving weekend here! The waitresses were extremely knowledgable about the new menu and the kitchen staff were even joking with our children. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Well done!

We visit fernie often and make The Loaf one of our mandatory stops. The pizza is the best we ever had and the bread and baked goods are the bomb.
