Description: The Loaf has been growing and evolving for seven years, from a start-up in a miner’s cottage to a firm favourite in Fernie’s Downtown core. Owners Phil & Claire Gadd have always designed The Loaf to be accessible and affordable, a neighbourhood restaurant where everyone is welcome and feels comfortable, no matter what the time of day. With excellent food, made from scratch on the premises daily. Now its time for some changes: updating the interior to make a more comfortable dining experience, extending the list of craft beers and offering more wines and liquor and creating an environment where the focus is on exceptional food, good company and the relaxed dining experience. “Our perfect wish for Fernie is a place with craft beers, a good solid wine list by the glass, pizzas, pasta, and some other nice mains, but nothing too fancy. And that’s exactly what we’re aiming to do at The Loaf.”

Stopped here for a quick lunch as recommended by our hotel and we weren't disappointed! Ordered a sandwich and hot chocolate and my husband a pizza, everything was delicious. Unfortunately we didn't buy any bread but got some yummy take away hot cross buns. Definately stop in if you get the chance.

I lived across the road from the loaf for 5 months and my girlfriend, flatmates and I were in there every other day. Consistently amazing sausage rolls and pies. Not to mention awesome croissants and different flavored loafs of bread Really good for the hangover. I'm glad we moved away so I can finally save some money. Still get my fix though. Guess i'll be visiting a little more when they move downtown.

All of the bread is incredibly good (but a little expensive) and the chocolate croissants are heavenly!
