Sterling Steak & Seafood, across the river from us provided to be an excellent choice for dinner this evening, to help celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary.

Similar to the Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores, Florida, The Sterling displays various beef cuts and samples of seafood behind glass, open bbq grill (so you can watch) and an intensive wine list.

you'll have to bring a few extra pennies to cover the evening cost.

Our party of three had chosen two choices.
Our beverage in take was limited to one beer, soda, white wine.

The men each had a 12oz. new york sirloin beef steak, bbq to perfection with baked potato and lightly steamed assorted veggies cut julienne style.

The braised giant sea scallops cooked Sicilian style, sitting on a bed of parsnip purée,
I ordered, was SO delicious that I was sorry that my entree had already been ordered,OR I would have eaten a second dish of scallops. My entree was a 16 oz. Quebec rack of lamb (6 bones) cooked "a la provencale style, with baked potato and the daily featured vegetable, lightly steamed assorted, cut julienne style.
The potato choices were baked, fries and mashed with garlic OR rice.

Dessert was shared by the three of us, excellent dish of "Chocolate Marquise", beautifully displayed. no coffee wanted.

The service was excellent; gave us time to examine the wine list and menu chart; all the dishes arrived on warmed plate; and spaced apart with enough time to have a conversation or a small eating rest. The servers didn't hoover but were close by incase you needed them. Asking at each delivery of food "if everything is satisfactory'. And what I personally liked best, That all the Dirty Dishes disappeared like magic.

The upstair woman's washroom was very clean and spacious.

The only thing: if there is any difficulty with ascending stairs, please ask for a table ground level..

We would definitely go back.

As is always expected, the steak is great - just to my liking - although maybe a little pricey.

But the thing that stands out the most is the live entertainment. The piano player they have entertaining diners not only sounds great, but he looks the part too! When he sings, he's got a Daniel Powter type voice.

So yes, the steak is as good as expected, but the entertainment is what brings me back!

The wife and I have been in the restaurant business in the past and we are very picky on the experience when trying a new place especially when we decide to pay a little extra to treat ourselves.
We read the reviews the good and the bad and went for it. From the minute we walked in till we left, it was a total pleasure, the place was packed and we still got the best service anywhere. Food is to die for and wine choice is outstanding.
It was worth the extra cost. Your turn to check it out, I know I am hooked

In the Ottawa-Gatineau area you can eat anywhere. However, if you prefer to dine, have a superb meal, attentive serving personnel, there is really only one place - Sterling - across the road from the Gatineau River, almost at the confluence of the Gatineau and Ottawa Rivers. They have a varied menu, with something for everyone's taste. The steaks are "sterling", kept in a climate controlled aging unit and presented to you for your approval before grilling. The wines are excellent and the drinks, such as gin and tonic, actually taste like gin and tonic, something that appears rare in other restaurants. The steaks were excellent and when it comes time for dessert, we have never tasted better - the crème brule and the cheesecake are to die for. Management of the restaurant are visibly on the premises, assuring quality throughout and that makes a difference as they obviously care. I cannot understand the negative reviews.

You have heard of build it and they will come; in Sterling's case, it is serve it and they will return and, believe me we will again and again.

Thanks to everyone at the restaurant for another fantastic evening.

For having been there several times before we had raved about the place so two of our friends wanted to treat us by inviting us there to celebrate a milestone in our life. The food was still good but the live entertainment was extremely loud and made everyone quite uncomfortable. That evening, one of our waiter was quite oblivious to what need to be done. The clientele also appeared less polished than what we were accustomed to. It lowered by 2 notches the rating of that restaurant in our mind because we consider the total experience when going out, not just what’s in the plate. Next time we’ll go elsewhere if we find out the musician/signer is still there when we call to reserve...
