“price is fair”
Reviewed July 24, 2014

The price of this hotel is very fair, we paid $130 for 2 double bed. It's very clean, service is excellent, but the breakfast is very poor, just some bread, jam and coffee, that's it, no egg or sausage :(

We have stayed here several times, and each time, it just keeps getting better! The staff are really nice even though I don't speak French well, the rooms are extremely clean and comfortable - with fridge, WiFi, real glass glasses individually wrapped (not the usual plastic stuff you get at this price) and a choice of synthetic or down pillows!

And the Continental breakfast is outstandingly good, with many choices of breads, croissants, juice, coffee, cereals all included.

And all just ten minutes from the National Capital, as well as being close to several unbeatably high quality restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed at a Sheraton recently, which cost us 50% more with no fridge, no WiFi, no real glasses, no choice of pillow, no customer appreciation, and no breakfast. A fridge alone would have added $20 to the nightly bill.

L'Auberge de la Gare in Gatineau beats all competition in this price range and higher. We will go back again and again.

Room Tip: We always stay in a two double-bed room: room to stretch out but also room to visit :)

I stayed at the Hotel during the month of July for 3 nights and it was great! The room was so much more that I would expect from a 3-star hotel! It was very clean and spacy (for someone staying for a couple of days like me, it was perfect!)

I especially like the fact that the hotel has a "Green" policy and you get credit for the days you don't get your room cleaned + they have a very full breakfast which made it easy for me as I didn't have to worry about that!

Overall, it is a great discovery for me and next time I am visiting, I will definitely stay there again!

My husband and i stayed at the Auberge de la Gare in Gatineau for 8 nights this past week while we were in Gatineau visiting our new baby granddaughter and her family. The hotel was basic but clean, quiet and comfortable. It was a large room with a mini-fridge, a bureau, desk and comfortable queen-size bed. The room had excellent free wifi and satellite TV. The bathroom was clean and the shower was decent. There was free parking and a very basic continental breakfast included in the price. Alsom for longer stays, you can choose to not have your room serviced daily and get a $6/day credit for the days you did not have maid service. Despite being on a major commercial street in Gatineau, the hotel was very quiet and within walking distance of restaurants and amenities and my son and his family's home. It was a quick trip to downtown Ottawa and to many interesting museums. My only complaint would be that there were no towel racks in the bathroom so if you chose to not have your room serviced, there is no place to hang your towels to dry. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had Room 304 which faced the parking lot as opposed to the street. I believe the even number room...

The hotel is located on a fairly major street but we found our room very clean, comfortable and quiet despite being right beside the elevator. The room was a good size, with a comfortable queen size bed and a desk. There was a coffeemaker and fridge, free internet access and a large TV with a lot of cable channels.
We had a small maintenance problem and they sent up someone to fix the bedside light in a very short time.
The breakfast was very basic, just toast, croissants, fruit and cold cereals with coffee, tea and juice.
Check out the hotel's own website for the best price on the rooms.

This hotel offers percs such as free parking, free continental breakfast, as well as free movie channels and a both refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. We attended a wedding in Gatineau so this was an ideal location. It's a quick ride into Ottawa too. Restaurants and banks are several blocks down the street too. We would consider staying here again.

It is a nice local hotel, bed super comfy with big heavy bed cover, clean, friendly staff, and sound proof (i did not hear people in corridor or other rooms). It is not located in the heart of the nicest part of old Hull, but very close. Amenities and restaurants within walking distance.
