Owner description: Only 20 minutes from Quebec City, the Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier earned its nickname, “Québec City's Great Outdoors,” with its four-season playground. Winter play is on the area's two ski resorts, snow slides, and its new snowshoeing and Nordic skiing trails. Summertime finds travelers hanging at the lakes. Feeling adventurous? Spend the night in a yurt, primitive campsite or cottage in the woods.

We hiked on several trails here, each was about 2 hours in length. Both were super easy. But the views of Ottawa from the high points are great and the walk around Pink Lake, despite a brief delay while some rangers chased away a black bear and her 2 cubs, was interesting and memorable. Also do not miss the lovely McKensie King Estate, within the park, or the wonderful French bistros and restaurants that are situated just at the start.

We stayed close to the park for all of the events and really had a blast. It is on the banks of the Ottawa River and is quite nice. The Museum of Civilization is next to it and is a short walk from park. And it was a great spot to watch the fireworks.

Kids love this park. They could spend hours sliding down the ice hill. They said that was a highlight of the trip for them.
