Despite very cool temps (5C) and occasional rain showers, today`s bike ride along the Sentier du Parc-de-la-gatineau was incredible. Not surprisingly, given the weather, I had the trail nearly to myself, and was able to ride its entire length with only one stop at a very long hill about 2 km south of Lac Pink. The trail is wide, well-marked, and travels through woods with occasional side trails to scenic overlooks or other places. It is accessible from downtown Gatineau hotels: in my case, I stayed at the Best Western - access to the trail network was right across the street, then after about a 5km ride to the west along the Ottawa River, one comes to the junction with the Gatineau Park trail itself. One can either ride all the way up and back, or one can return via other trails that go east then south, past the casino at Lac Leamy. Very few road crossings, and only about 100 meters in total where I was actually on a shared roadway, Excellent riding!
