Great Place to spend some time with kids... and you can also visit the entire Civilization Museum.
As you could expect it, it can get quite crowded though...

“Perfect for young kids!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012 via mobile

I have a 2 and 4 year old I needed to keep busy and this place did the trick! There was lots for them to see and explore and it was very hands on and safe for them to actually explore. The staff was friendly and helpful. We spent about 2.5 hours there before they realized they were hungry and after a snack in the cafeteria (expensive, as to be expected but lots of choices), they asked to go back and we spent another hour. If I had one complaint it would be not enough benches for exhausted parents! Well worth the money and the walk across the bridge. They've asked to go back everyday since. If you have young children, they will certainly enjoy the experience.

“Saved our sanity many many times ... esp. in Winter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

This is a great museum because children can touch EVERYTHING! Yes!

If you live in the area, I highly recommend that you look into the Patrons Circle level membership as it will save your sanity. The membership allows for unlimited access all year long for 2 adults and 2 kids. You can also bring 2 adult guests (think grandparents or any visitors who have never seen the Museum of Civilization before) so if you go enough time, the membership pays for itself. Did I mention it helped saved our sanity?

When our boys were younger and during very cold winter days, we would make it a whole day at the museum and even packed our own lunch to bring. They would roam around the Children's Museum and there was enough for them for hours (if you also try to do the dress-up parts and partake in the various crafts).

Then as they grew older, we started to see the different cool exhibits (last year the Japan Innovations one was amazing: we met Asimo the Japanese robot!).

These days, we do not use it as much for the Children's Museum but we still enjoy the Patron's Circle membership for the various exhibits, esp. when they have school projects. As well as VIP access to events not open to the public (e.g. seeing the Canada Day fireworks front and centre).

If you want to know more or have other questions, send me a message here on TripAdvisor and I will try to help.

“Wonderful for kids”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

My kids are 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 and we weren't sure how well they would enjoy the Children's Museum. Well 5 minutes after being there I didn't have to question our decision about taking them.
They thoroughly enjoyed it. There are many activities for all ages of children. We had to pull them away after spending a few hours there.
