“Best Kept Secret in Levis”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

We have stayed twice now at Villa Beau Sejour. It is located directly across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City on a promenade for walking or biking. You can see the Chateau Frontenac from the enclosed breakfast room at the front of the house. Beautiful in the daytime and, especially, at night. There are four rooms for rent, one tiny, three good sized. Our room had a king size bed & sitting area. All rooms have private bath. Some with tub/shower or shower. Look up their sight and there are full pictures of all of them. It is spotlessly clean and decorated in a flower mode. The breakfast is the best you will ever have. You won't have to eat till dinnertime. It is homemade and varies every day. The windowed dining room overlooking the St. Lawrence is very colorful. Jacques always has my big pot of Canadian black tea waiting for me. He then presents everyone with a huge, fresh from the oven croissant with real butter on the table. You may have another one if you wish. Heaven! Our first morning there in October, they served two eggs benedict along with fresh fruit served in a martini glass. Also your choice of juices. The breakfast plates include fresh fruits and vegetables. There is also yogurt, muesli and other healthy breakfast food. A plate holding 12 canning jars full of Diane's homemade james and jellies is in the center of your table. The owners, Diane Ouellet and Jacques Toupin, are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They are extremely accommodating to help you get around the area and where to catch the ferry to cross over the river to Quebec City. (We had a car so we boarded the ferry with it.) We stayed with them in 2007 for a week and had the best time. I brought Diane an outdoor-oven baked bread from one of our sojourns with our cousin and when we left, she gave me a HUGE box of my favorite tea to take with me! When we emailed in 2012 to see if they would be open in October for a two day visit, they answered promptly and we were able to book right away. We flew into Jean LeSage Airport in Quebec City and picked up our rental car. By the time we arrived at the house, it was 7 PM or so. We were never greated so warmly by anyone like those two wonderful Quebecois. Hugs and kisses and, yes, we remember you very well and are so glad to see you. We felt like we were home. Jacques helped us with our luggage and got us settled in. Prices are very reasonable considering they serve the best breakfast in the world. They invited our two cousins for breakfast on the morning we were to leave. As you can tell, we just love them and we love staying at this little gem of a B & B.

Room Tip: The room at the front of the house is extremely small but the view is directly across the St. Lawren...

We found this 4-star B&B in the Levis Tourist Guide! There is a spectacular unobstructed view across a small park and the St. Lawrence River to Quebec City and the Chateau Frontenac. It is within close proximity to the ferry across to the lower Old Town street in Quebec City. You can ferry your car to Quebec City and park near the ferry for $17 a day (assuming their is room at the lot) or leave your car at the pier in Levis for $10. You can walk to the ferry from the B&B but it is a steep hill heading down to pier. Maybe a 10-15 min. walk. An uphill hike returning to the B&B.

The Beau Sejour hosts are warm, friendly, helpful and offer a wealth of information. Our centrally located large room in this one level B&B was just off the main living room but very quiet with king bed, very nice linens, sitting area and immaculate. There are 4 rooms with private bath and onsite parking for a few cars. Otherwise, appeared to have plenty of on-street parking right at the B&B.

Breakfast is taken on an inviting porch overlooking Quebec City. The views at night are breathtaking!
Breakfast included hot choices, fruit, juices, and homemade jams. It was one of the best omelettes I have ever had. We would definitely stay here again if available. We could not get in the lst night as they were booked. This is a grand spot for cyclists near the biking trail.

We arrived by air for our grand circle tour of eastern Quebec Province but booked our rental car in Quebec City as it was considerably less expensive taking into account the cab ride to/from the airport. When returning the car at the end of our stay, our hosts at Beau Sejour recommended we ferry our car across to return it rather than driving the long distance. Great advice! We don't remember what it cost to take the car across to Quebec City from Levis but we remember being very reasonable. My husband thinks it was approx. $15. I think it was closer to $11. Either is very reasonable!

Although we had initially planned to stay in Quebec City and knew nothing of Levis, we are pleased we made the last minute decision to stay in Levis. While exploring Quebec City, we found that parking at the lodging is not always on-site and can be quite expensive on & off-site. One highly rated Old Town establishment required parking several blocks away outside of the Old Town. Levis accomodations were much more reasonable than Quebec City and we enjoyed ferrying across to Quebec City being dropped off right at the foot of hill where Chateau Frontenac perched. We encountered a small group of tourists who were ferrying across just for dinner after a day of biking the trails on the south side of the river.

Room Tip: Room to front of home is right next to the gathering/breakfast porch and could be a real drawback fo...
