We have stayed twice now at Villa Beau Sejour. It is located directly across the St. Lawrence River from Quebec City on a promenade for walking or biking. You can see the Chateau Frontenac from the enclosed breakfast room at the front of the house. Beautiful in the daytime and, especially, at night. There are four rooms for rent, one tiny, three good sized. Our room had a king size bed & sitting area. All rooms have private bath. Some with tub/shower or shower. Look up their sight and there are full pictures of all of them. It is spotlessly clean and decorated in a flower mode. The breakfast is the best you will ever have. You won't have to eat till dinnertime. It is homemade and varies every day. The windowed dining room overlooking the St. Lawrence is very colorful. Jacques always has my big pot of Canadian black tea waiting for me. He then presents everyone with a huge, fresh from the oven croissant with real butter on the table. You may have another one if you wish. Heaven! Our first morning there in October, they served two eggs benedict along with fresh fruit served in a martini glass. Also your choice of juices. The breakfast plates include fresh fruits and vegetables. There is also yogurt, muesli and other healthy breakfast food. A plate holding 12 canning jars full of Diane's homemade james and jellies is in the center of your table. The owners, Diane Ouellet and Jacques Toupin, are two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They are extremely accommodating to help you get around the area and where to catch the ferry to cross over the river to Quebec City. (We had a car so we boarded the ferry with it.) We stayed with them in 2007 for a week and had the best time. I brought Diane an outdoor-oven baked bread from one of our sojourns with our cousin and when we left, she gave me a HUGE box of my favorite tea to take with me! When we emailed in 2012 to see if they would be open in October for a two day visit, they answered promptly and we were able to book right away. We flew into Jean LeSage Airport in Quebec City and picked up our rental car. By the time we arrived at the house, it was 7 PM or so. We were never greated so warmly by anyone like those two wonderful Quebecois. Hugs and kisses and, yes, we remember you very well and are so glad to see you. We felt like we were home. Jacques helped us with our luggage and got us settled in. Prices are very reasonable considering they serve the best breakfast in the world. They invited our two cousins for breakfast on the morning we were to leave. As you can tell, we just love them and we love staying at this little gem of a B & B.
