“Keep Driving Don't Stop!!!!!!”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We stayed here one night and that was to many. The driveway was the highlight of our stay. The front desk person was friendly and polite then it went down hill. The 70's called they want their decor back. The rooms were filthy. The 2 remote control system does not cut it. The first one was sticky. God knows with what. The towels had hair on them. Good thing i had my own. The carpets were stained. I thought someone got stabbed. Silly me i was hungry. There was a drunk hunchback sitting at the VLT who greeted us. I ordered a hot dog for my son and got a hamburger bun instead. They were out of alot of stuff on the menu. My wife's fries tasted like socks and were burnt. The cutlery was filthy. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

called it the summer of love as my 10 year old and 5 year old were given quite a show in the pool area it was taken care of once my wife complained to front desk but they should have taken care of it as there are cameras set up. Also meals at the hotel were an experience with the fact they either didn't have what was on menu or they substituted things Example hamburger bun for a hot dog also we had early mornings but staff showed up after we had to be gone found it easier and better to eat in town

Overall the hotel was in a good location, rooms were fine, staff friendly & efficient but we were disappointed with the hot breakfast -- bread, fruit and coffee were set out for us as the cook never came to work.
We'll definitely stay somewhere else if we are back in the area.

There isn't a lot of choice for hotels in portage so you gotta take what you can get.

The staff were the best. They put my bathing suit and son's shorts in a plastic bag for me after we left them in our room. they also helped us find a bottle opener to open our glass drinks.

The price is cheap at about a hundred bucks per night. We booked here partly for the breakfast, but when we booked we didn't know the restaurant would be closed! So they gave us some breakfast but we would have liked to be able to order eggs instead of eating half-frozen pastry.

The pool, hotttub, and small gym were good for our little family.

The big hotel sign was not lit up and so if we weren't familiar with the Portage area we would have had a hard time finding this place since it is off the main highway and not in the actual city limits. There were also no lights in the driveway. Looked like a ghost town with no lights!!

We couldn t use the TV since the two remote controls were confusing for us. We had to unplug the TV because we couldn't even figure out how to turn it off! Doh!! Good thing we didn't come here to watch TV. Also, like most hotels, the remote controls were filthy... So I made my son wash his hands after touching them! Yech!

The location seemed nice and they are pet friendly but the front desk staff could care less and the service in the restaurant is brutal. Our room was fine although dated and at least the air conditioning worked. I wouldn't stay there next time. Super 8 or Canad Inn look like a better bet.
