“Will not stay here again!”
Reviewed September 2, 2009

The adventure started in the lobby when the reservation was different that what I booked over the 1-800 Ramada number while we were traveling. The place had a run down look to it as if it was waiting to be fixed up. It would have loads of potential if the right owners were in charge. The managers had a hard time understanding English so the adventure got better by the minute. After finding out about the extra charges for two beds and the fact that we had a dog (which was treated in an unfriendly manner even though we found out the managers had a dog as well!!) Then there was the nice but creepy evening guy that came on at 10PM. He was nice enough, but not too bright and seem to do everything for the managers from closing the pool, doing the garbages, replacing the strings of lights around the building, setting out the breakfast, and cleaning the rooms!!!). The room was clean enough, but again there is so much potential here for a good hotel and it is beginning to show its age. The "Limited" in the Ramada Limited says it all!

IT was a bit rundown and in a dirty side of town. There are definatley some better places in town but this was picked because they allowed my dog to stay. When I got there the people on the 1-800 number didn't let them know I had a pet so I almost lost my room if not for the front desk people being nice enough to let me stay. The room was big and comfy and I found it a good place to lay my head. I didn't do much but sleep so I don't know much about the pool. The bathroom reeked like mushrooms growing and almost made me gag until I got the scent of shampoo going.
The breakfast sucked royal. Rotten apples, week old donut holes and some gross [--] muffins. If you are looking for a place to have pets this will do otherwise find a better place.

We spent two nights here, on the way to Barkerville . We certainly expected much more from a hotel associated with the Ramada group of hotels. This is a 1 star at best...
We were all quite surprised that Ramada would put thier name on this one!

Don't be fooled by any of the pictures... pool area was dark and dingy, hot tub was out of order and was still not up and running on our final nights stay although the pump had been repaired the morning after our arrival (less than impressive when you are travelling with 4 kids). Garbage bags were also left out beside the bins adjacent to the deck area beside the pool.
Our room's door lock was missing and both rooms were musty smelling.

On the bright side, the bed linens were clean.

Continental breakfast was hardly worth the effort, ours or the staffs. We have seen our share of Continental breakfasts, and we certainly don't expect the world but this one was very sadly supplied. Good thing that there is a TH down the road.

I will give this hotel 2 things:
1) the bed linens were clean
2) it was central to numerous eating choices in downtown Quesnel ( there are some very good restaurants in the downtown core)

Don't miss getting to see Barkerville, just don't stay here in doing so......... The sign says Ramada "Limited" for a reason

Keep Driving!
Do not assume this is a hotel. When it says Ramada Limited, the key word is limited. Very small musty smelling rooms. When coffee coloured water came out of the taps, we packed up and headed on, and didn't bother to spend the rest of the night.

  • Liked — The fact that I could leave it and be home within an hour and a half
  • Disliked — The dark brown water that came out of the bathroom taps
  • Tips/Secrets — Stay at the Sandman it is new and has two good restaurants

Central location but small rooms, noisy, and not cheap. The late night/early morning return of the bar crowd is entertainment you'll want to miss. Hearing them trying to find their rooms pretty much ensured a no-sleep stay.

  • Liked — Central location
  • Disliked — Small rooms, very noisy late at night
  • Tips/Secrets — Stay here only if it's the last palce in town.

We were travelling to northern BC with our grandaughter and wanted to stay at a hotel with a pool at a reasonable price. The Ramada definitely fit the bill. We were so pleased that we booked it again on our return trip south.

It has a sparkling clean indoor pool which is not too deep and a hot tub. The hotel was very quiet at night. Check in-and out was very efficient. Our rooms were clean, although the decor is early 90ties. The bed was very comfortable.

The room rate when we stayed was $79.80 cdn per night, and included continental breakfast. Breakfast consisted of 3 types of cereal, toast with choice of jam or peanut butter, muffins, fresh fruit, coffee and juice.

This hotel was excellent value. We definitely recommend it to anyone travelling with children.

  • Liked — Great value and location.
  • Disliked — Decor was a bit dated but I've seen much worse.
