Village Country Inn
Ranked #10 of 22 Hotels in Radium Hot Springs
Certificate of Excellence

Recently my husband and I went with my senior citizen parents for a weekend in Radium, BC. We booked our rooms at the Village Country Inn, so we could have more than just a motel or hotel experience. We were delighted with the comfort of the homey atmosphere and the welcoming attitude of the owners. The owners were very helpful in arranging a golf game for the men, and spa treatment appointments were offerred for the women. We chose walking, reading, and shopping instead. Relaxation & Rest.
We took in the Hot Springs, (of course!) and three of the local, wonderful restaurants. Each morning we enjoyed the bottomless coffee and the beautifully prepared breakfasts at the Inn. Not only were they delicious, the presentation was exquisite. Breakfast is optional, but we highly recommend it.
It is a treat to sleep in linens that have been freshly pressed. The toiletries in the bathrooms are fine quality, and the general open living room is a place to relax and meet other guests, if you like.
We are excited to go back and see how the new owners are updating the Inn & adding a Tea Room. We thoroughly enjoy the peaceful surroundings that the Inn and town of Radium have to offer.
Treat yourself to a getaway in Radium. This Inn is like no other!

We stayed at the Village Country Inn for one night in July 2009. We also stayed there in the summer of 2008.

This time we were a bit disappointed with our visit. We arrived late in the evening. Before going to sleep that night we had to chase down an assortment of flies and mosquitoes in the room. It was not a great start!

Whether you will enjoy your stay depends in part on your luck of the draw with the room assigned to you. Last year we had a corner room with a king size bed on the second floor and found our stay to be restful and pleasant. This year we had a small room with a queen size bed on the main floor beside the kitchen. The walls seemed to be a bit thin downstairs. Our room was noisy and we also experienced a lot of kitchen smells.

The rooms have not changed since the change in management. They are still very clean and the décor still makes you feel like you are visiting your grandmother. Maybe the décor is something the new owners will improve upon over time. Wireless internet was apparently available onsite, although I did not try to access it.

The new owners were friendly at check in and check out.

There are not many breakfast options in the town of Radium and last year we really enjoyed the wonderful breakfasts which were available at the Inn. Unfortunately now you have to pre-book your breakfast time if you want breakfast and only two rooms are permitted to have breakfast at the same time. As we checked in late, only the 10 a.m. breakfast slot was available for the following morning. Because that didn’t suit us, I never got to find out whether the breakfast was as good as it used to be.

Our stay was ok, and the Village Country Inn is an option to consider if you need to stay right in the town site of Radium. However, there are a lot of accommodation options in the Columbia Valley and next time I will probably stay elsewhere.

On my recent trip to the Village Country Inn I was delighted by several positive and charming changes that have occured since my first visit before it was under new management in early September 2008.
* Signage informing patrons about the 'little things' were no longer curt, creating a more inviting and positive atmosphere.
* I appreciate the addition of 'Journals' to each of the rooms for guests to leave reflections about their stay at the Inn.
* I noticed how worn and dusty decorations had been replaced with a fresher and cleaner look.
* The new owners, Fern and Graham, are friendly, conversational and concerned that guests enjoy their stay. It's apparent that they love what they do.
* The breakfasts are VERY good. I especially loved the French Toast Amadeus stuffed with Brie and Fern's own homemade cranberry sauce.

I highly recommend a stay at the Village Country Inn to anyone traveling to the Radium Hot Springs area.

We have stayed at and loved the Village Country Inn for years, but the owners changed last September (2008). In the past it was a wonderful place to stay with great service and incredible breakfasts. Our most recent trip was OK, but it is now a "hotel" with so so service (No clean towels for 3 days). The breakfasts were OK, but you need to reserve a table the night before (not what you want on vacation). Sorry but the charm has gone!

We had specifically booked this Inn because we liked the look of the rooms. I asked for the king corner room on the second floor and was told that we could have that room. We also received an email confirming our stay in the king corner room on the second floor. When we arrived there we were shown a small main floor room at the back of the Inn. When I complained, I was told that people who had rented the king corner room the previous day wanted to extend their stay so they would keep their room. Being bumped like that was annoying but even more annoying were the paper thin walls with the innkeepers shouting in the hallway with various guests. We were very glad to get out of there.

Spent two nights at the Village Country Inn and was impressed with the room and the cleanliness of the Inn. A good location from which to visit the national park, golf courses, fishing lakes, and the Hot Springs. Breaksfast was good, a quiet and comfortable location. A good spot to stay on a visit to Radium Hot Springs.

Village Country Inn and its hosts Sasha and Gorm truly made our 3 day stay (August 1-3, 2007) in Radium a most cherished and memorable experience for my husband, 12 year old girls and I. We took an amazing trip from Calgary to Drumheller to Brooks and Waterton Alberta and then we crossed into British Columbia to visit Fernie and Radium and ended our trip in Jasper and Edmonton. We loved our trip to the West(best family vacation yet and we have been to the East coast, to the USA and on 3 cruises)but we must say that The Village Country Inn and its hosts Sasha and Gorm are second to none!!!!!! Sasha gave us advice on what to see and do even before our arrival! You cannot find a cleaner Inn anywhere( you could eat off the floor as the cliche goes). There are slippers outside each room to allow you to leave your shoes after hiking or visiting the area. The porch and gardens of the Inn are a piece of heaven. Sashas homemade breakfasts(try the strata!) and Gorm's quick wit , wonderful sense of humour and fabulous travel advice are all a part of the total experience of the inn that you don't want to miss! The Village Country Inn is a MUST in places to stay!!!!!! Out of 8 places in which we stayed while on holidays(from chain hotels to inns to lodges) Village Country Inn was by far the very best!!!! The most beautiful, great value, the most scrumptious breakfasts and by far the most wonderful and gracious hosts you could ever wish for!!!!(travel tip that worked out great for us: avoid crowds and high prices of Banff and Lake Louise-stay in Radium B.C. at the VIllage Country Inn and drive(1 hr.) through Kootenay National Park(destination on its own) to Banff for the day-also take in Hot Springs pools in Radium-its wonderful!)
