Clean, good location, quiet, and a wonderfully friendly manager. A sweet place. We were eight bicycle riders, and the owner did our laundry.

I was a loyal customer at the Bavaria for years, until this past year. It's quite obvious that either ownership, or the management of this place had changed hands. The first indication (that something had changed) were the lawns, and general upkeep outside. THEN, when I enetered the office there was a horrible STENCH! A strange man entered, and when I asked where the usual cheerful manager was (Shirley), he gave me some babbling excuse for her departure. We decided to exit and leave, never staying. The upkeep outside, and smell of the office was enough! What's happened to the Bavaria?

We travel quite often to Radium and have stayed at several different motels, in high and low season - in terms of overall value, I put this one at the top. Upon entering the fireplace suite, I was happy to see the pictures on the website matched the room - very clean and cozy. Cozy usually means small, and it would have been if we brought the kids, but with just the two of us it was delightfully comfortable.

I asked my partner what she would change about our stay, and the only thing she said the wood for the fireplace - most pieces were a little too large to fit nicely and an occasional piece of pressure treated wood found its way into the pile. After our first night we bought a starter log and had no further issue.

Service is paramount on my list of expectations for any business, and Shiraj, Host of the Bavaria, really understands that "little extras" build repeat buisness. From ensuring we had enough wood and matches for the fireplace to calling me by name each time we spoke - little things make the difference, and we found those things at the Bavaria.

If you like economy and cleanliness then this OK for a budget stop. Travelling with another couple we checked into two rooms. We gave the other couple the first room we looked at which was fine. We enetered the second room which was stinky. We got a second room which had 3 beds, two single one queen. The queen bed looked like a hammock. Too tired to argue any more slept on mattress that must have been 30 years old. The building has been renovated in a comfortable and pleasing way and sits in a very quiet side street. It is the quietest place I have ever stayed at. This is not the place to stay if you are looking for high tech anything.
The owner who made me feel like I was being dealt with, he was going to pawn off one of the less desireable rooms on us because we were booking two. I have stayed at the hotel at least eight times previous and never had a complaint or a bed like this one.
I don't know If this is new management but It has destroyed my relationship with my facility. Our friends were moved shortly after being checked in due to a water leak. All in all this used to be a great little hotel that was a great bargain. Now I will pay the difference and upscale for a facility with some integrity in it's management and appointments.

We really liked this place. The manager, Shirley, is terrific.....friendly, down-to-earth, made sure we were comfortable, told us about a good coffee shop and a grocery store, etc.. Our unit had a small kitchen and we used the barbecue in the little park in front of the building to fix dinner (we usually eat out). The room, and bathroom, were very tiny, but we had a queen bed and all that we needed, including a light on both sides of the bed......which is more than we can say for several places we stayed on this trip. It was clean, quiet and priced reasonably.

The only limitation was that there was no way to open the window at night without being exposed to possible intrusion--e.g. there was no bar in the sliding window to keep it from opening too far. We were on the ground level and were aftraid to keep it open.
