“Great place to stay”
Reviewed May 9, 2011

Bighorn Meadows Resort and Radium Hot Spring is our favorite place to stay. Close to Calgary, we love the area and the resort. The apartments are spacious and very well equipped with everything you may need. The view is amazing and we took some pretty good pictures. This is the best place we have been for that price.

Room Tip: block 100 is the oldest, but I would recommend it

It was our first stay at this Resort and we were not familar with the rooms. We ended up going to a suite in the 100 block which is apparently the oldest block in the facility. Our room had a very small T.V. and after carefully selected 5 dvd movies from the office, discovered there was only a VHS player. We asked if we could upgrade to a 1 bedroom with kitchen unit. The front desk staff was very accomodating. We were moved to the 800 block which is the most modern of them all. We were pleasantly surprised. For only $10.00 more , the room was beautiful, spaciouse and tastefully decorated with granite counter tops, a DVD player and a good sized flat screen T.V. We found it to be very clean and inviting with a spectacular view of the pond. The one downfall was the paper thin walls. Our neighbours watched movies until 1:00pm so we lay awake listening to that.

Room Tip: Very clean and mondern. A warm and inviting place.

There are lots of options in Radium to stay but most are complete dives. Old hotels build in the 60's and 70's, Bighorn is by far the best place to stay. Off the busy highway on a quite golf course that you can still walk into town for food. Rooms vary in quality some have old school CRT TV's while others have Plasma's. Rooms are clean and staff are very accomodating for family and your schedules.

I don’t believe there is a better place to stay in Radium than the Bighorn Resort. It has alot going for it, but has a few downsides. The resort is adjacent to what appears to be a very nice golf course. The resort is quite new and is part of a “partial ownership” plan.

The suite
the decor and layout are very impressive. Elegant, dark, rich colours, upscale furnishings and everything you need to feel at home. Granite counter kitchen, leather couch etc. All very luxurious in appearance and very welcoming.
A problem one can face with large “homelike” suites is that you may get stuck with a large homelike family of six directly above you, scraping furniture, stomping around dropping suitcases and making whatever noise they make at home. We could hear every sound from the people above. Around 9 AM I could hear the cleaning staff doing their thing directly above our bed. We tried out the large jet tub in the bathroom, but it sounded like a 15HP Mercury outboard. After a few minutes we could not continue on with the noisy machine. Another odd entity was our ceiling fan. It sounded a bit like a drill siren. Not an entirely restful stay, but a new, spacious, attractive comfortable suite, very well appointed with beautiful nighttime views of the Kootenay stars.

The resort
The welcome staff is very down home and friendly. The resort is set up with about eight buildings, each about two or three stories high. The staff was very eager to assist when I mentioned a squeaky door. The strange thing was how it was handled by the maintenance guy. While we were at the pool, the maintenance guy came by to oil our squeaky doors (with WD40 instead of oil?) and took it upon himself to turn on the noisy ceiling fan so when we returned to our suite welcomed by a loud shrill.
The crowd was predominantly Albertan families with lots of kids.
I think the resort would do better if they had a kids pool and an adults pool.

My husband and I recently stayed at Bighorn Meadows Resort. Everything was wonderful! It is amazing to be a golf cart ride away from a pristine golf course with a mountain background setting. To sit on our balcony each night and watch the golfers on the 9th fairway and then the sunset behind the mountains is an amazingly relaxing experience. The units themselves are beautifully decorated. Everything is modern, clean and well maintained. We will definitely return. It was a wonderfully romantic weekend of hiking, golfing and just simply relaxing. I don't give ratings generously and I give Bighorn Meadows 4 stars .

My husband and I decided to break our BC trip in half. We booked this resort for two nights at the beginning of August not knowing what to expect.

This condo resort is a gem. It is built on a top-rated golf course overlooking valleys and mountains. You will have a great view regardless of what room you are in.

We booked a block-off room. It had a king-size bed, a kitchen, spacious bathroom and plenty of sitting room. All of it was spotless. We stayed in the 500 block just behind the pool and hut tub area. It was a perfect location.

On our first night, we attended a wine and cheese at the resort where we met many of the condo owners. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming; we had a blast. This resort is a short 10-minute walk from Main Street where restaurants pubs and sometimes music await. If you are not into walking, parking is not an issue.

For the avid golfers out there, this is the perfect spot as there are at least 15 decent golf course in and around Radium. Invermere and Panorama are just a short drive away where you will have access to beaches, restaurants and local shops.

Yes - you have to take out your own recycling and garbage, but that shouldn't make or break your vacation. This is a CONDO-type resort, not your typical hotel and that's what we like about it.

We had a wonderful time and will definitely return next Summer!

Happy Travels!

Very nice property to stay at here in Radium. Not quite a regular hotel (you have to take care of your own garbage and recyclng) but very nice accomodations. Exceptional value for the money - rooms are well decorated, high speed internet access is free, nice outdoor pool and hot tub, golf course minutes away (tip - guests receive 10% off at the golf course dining lounge).
