“Not a holiday hotel”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

I would rank it as a 2 or 3 star motel at best. rooms due for major renovation. Poor circulation and room smell. We asked to change rooms (overlooking indoor pool and slides) but hotel could not make the change claiming hotel is full. The hotel seem to be aware of bad smell in rooms and later offered a discount. This may be of value to some people but certainly was not what we were looking for. we simply wanted to enjoy a decent holiday break and sleep. This hotel cannot offer either of the two.

Maybe Rimouski is not the hottest destinations. If you really have to stay there, check out the good B&B, they are much better than this hotel.

Standards are low, staff are ok but again not of a caliber of a 4 star. it is not a welcoming environment. I would never stay there again even if for a business trip.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere. Not worth it at all.

We understand that this client will not be coming to our facilities based on his last experience. We are sorry that our accommodations did not meet his expectations, especially since we take great pride in our Hotel and our guest services.

However, it is important to mention that after reviewing the case in detail, we came to the conclusion that we did everything we could under the circumstances. Our employees have worked very hard to find the best solutions in a situation where the hotel was sold out and it was late in the evening. We were able to accommodate a request from the client with a particular allergy to softener products in bed sheets ans towels, what he was very greatful about but did not mention it in the present comment. Concerning the room smell, it has been completely resolved the next morning; finding out it was coming from another room nearby.

A very good price reduction was also given right away to palliate the unpleasant and uncontrollable situation.

Old rooms. Smelly and poor ventalation. Management totally frustrated and could care less whether clients are happy or not. Incompetent and poor skills of staff to the horrible experience.

I would never stay beyond my one night in this hotel ever again...

When we pulled into the parking lot, we were thinking of not even going in and cancelling our reservation. The place is hideous from the outside. Anyhow we did go in, and were treated pleasantly when we checked in. We paid extra for a suite looking out over the St Lawrence. I would highly recommend paying extra for the larger room with a view. We really enjoyed the room. Infact I don't have any complaints in this regard. It was large, clean, and everything worked. There was one person at the front desk(I think his name was James who was very helpful with recomondations. The hotel is a big convention hotel which is not my taste, but there are very few options in the area that are any different. I would not recommend Rimouski itself, but if you were to go, I would recommend the Hotel Rimouski if you splurged for a suite with a water view.

Room Tip: splurge for a suite

We spent 3 nights at the hotel for a family gateway to Parc National du Bic. The room was spacious and clean, the staff provided us a small fridge in the room. Our children really loved the pool with the waterslide. The hotel in well located beside the water, a great place to watch the sunset and it's an easy walk to many restaurants.

You won't be disappointed. Very spacious and minutes to downtown. Great boardwalk for anyone that enjoys running/walking which overlooks the St. Lawrence River. This hotel has a pool, bistro, restaurant and a massage/esthetic center, I would highly recommend Julie for your massage. Our suite was clean with a spacious bathroom, French doors separating the main bed from a sitting room for privacy. Service from the desk clerks was exceptional. We booked the room on bookings.com so we did receive a good rate.

Room Tip: Book ahead of time especially for a waterfront room.

Hotel is toward the higher end in pricing, but is well worth it if you're looking for a bit of luxury.

Clean room, super comfy bed, front desk service A1, breakfast buffet delicious.

I'll go again next time I'm in Rimousky with a fat wallet.

This spacious and very clean hotel, located one block away from the heart of town, is the convention center for “Le Bas Saint-Laurent and the Gaspé Peninsula”.
As Chuck R wrote in his review “Hotel is nondescript on the outside, but offers everything one might need”. I would add that the architect missed out on this one. The meeting rooms are on the front of the building, facing the magnificent Fleuve-Saint-Laurent, while the rooms are in the back or on the side, except for the fifth floor, thus missing out on the view.
The room we occupied was bright, clean and the queen size bed very comfortable. The bathroom was very standard but well appoint and clean.
The restaurant served good meals, reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was very good. The staffs were very courteous. However, if you prefer to eat outside the hotel every good restaurant in Rimouski is within a ten minutes walk. On the down side; there is only one elevator in the hotel.

Make sure you go out for a stroll along the nearly two miles long boardwalk located just across the street along the 25 miles wide Fleuve-Saint-Laurent. Relax on one the many benches along the way and enjoy the sound of the waves and the seagulls. It's the best hotel in Rimouski by ratings and I would definitely stay again.
