“Don't let the outside fool you”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2014

We drove right past this restaurant without giving it a second look. But when I was looking up restaurants in Sooke it had received enough positive reviews that we thought we'd try it. Were we ever glad we did! We had the special which was halibut stuffed with crab and shrimp, wrapped in phyllo dough and baked. It was beyond amazing! The service was excellent, and we would dine here again in a heartbeat!

“Good value, great service, lots of food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

We were driving through town around noon on our way back to Victoria, and we thought we would stop for lunch. My wife noticed your sign from the road so we thought we would give it a try. When you walk in it is kind of dark, and uninviting. But we were seated immediately, and then greeted by a very nice waitress. The menu is a mixed bag. I really don't know what cuisine they would be. We ordered a beef dip, and a shrimp salad sandwich. Both were excellent with a good quantity of food. We both enjoyed our meals. Good value for your dollar. We would go back next time we are in Sooke.

“Afternoon muncies”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014 via mobile

Hey! You gotta eat. We've been a half dozen times in the last couple years and have always enjoyed the place. All of it. Ambiance, decor, staff and value. All good. The locals go so what more do you need to know?

“Lost somewhere in time but food is good”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014

Impression when you first walk in, is of the horrible, way past their life brown curtains that look dirty, and far from fresh. We were seated not far from the cash register, and on the far south wall, were remnants/splatters of some kind of food. For lunch we ordered bowls of soup, and the crab/mussel appetizer as we were not that hungry. The food tasted great, but my husband's seafood soup contained a piece of clam shell. The cream of tomato/spinach and feta cheese soup tasted superb. However, the soup and the appetizer dish arrived at the table at the same time. We sent the crab/mussel appetizer back asking a fresh one be delivered when we had eaten the soup. When we were ready for it, this dish too was nicely flavored.
This place appears to cater to locals and travelers as it is near the main road through Sooke.

“I'm Still In Shock”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2014

The atmosphere was dated. So were we after waiting for our food. The fish and chips were overcooked: Some parts inedible charcoal. I ordered the Greek dinner and it came without rice or potatoes, so in my experience it really was a Greek salad with undetermined floured? breaded? sauteed chicken breast meat ???
The next day for half the price we had an excellent dinner that rocked at Mom's Cafe only a block away, and wished we'd found it first. Go there....!!!
