“Great out of the way cottage”
Reviewed August 6, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My wife and I were looking to get away for a few days and get off the grid and have the distractions of today's modern technology's cottage There's no cable tv but wifi is available. There's a small tv monitor hooked up to DVD player. Bring your own movies unless you like Adam Sandler movies!

A cozy little cottage in Sooke was exactly what we were looking for two. There is a microwave, hot plate, small oven with a rotisserie, and coffee machine.
I don't recommend trying to cook because there are some amazing locally owned restaurants to chose from. Beware of the tiny shower. I'm only 5ft 9in and its s bit tight.

There also zip lining close by which we both enjoyed and plenty of places to hike and explore.

The owner is very sweet and the price is defiantly a bargain!

“Solitude and tranquility in Sooke”
Reviewed August 13, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

My wife and I booked a short stay in the Port Cottage of the Orveas Bay resort. It was the end of a week long visit with family and friends and ended up being a perfect spot to unwind in. The property is large and quite private with terrific views of the Straight of Juan de Fuca. The cottage was serene. Very well appointed, clean and comfortable. Lots of comfy chairs on decks, outside on the patio eating area, cushioned lawn chairs to doze in and another set of chairs on a section of lawn overlooking the ocean. I tested and dozed in each one. The cottage is fully equipped with all that is needed including some spices and coffee. The private BBQ and hot tub were clean and well maintained. All in all an excellent end to a great trip.

“The perfect weekend”

I cant say enough about how fortunate we both felt to have found Ron,and June's little piece of paradice. Orveas Bay Resort is well thought out. Tons of privacy without being stuffed in the backwoods somewhere. Our "Starboard" cabin faced east and the view was breathtaking. We were very fortunate to have chosen a beautiful weekend in early March. It felt like early summer. On Saturday evening we sat in the hottub under clear starry skies and watched the fullmoon rise above the trees, and make its way towards us along the Juan de Fuca Strait.
We had a great visit to China beach, ( if you dont know the area beaches, trust Ron for directions), and a nice light lunch at The Shirley Delicious Cafe...The owner Philip, is a very friendly guy with a quick handshake, a nice baratone singing voice, and a warped sense of humour,( I loved the 'Tripe and Oyster sandwich) lol.
We were also very fortunate to be there on a weekend that June felt like baking, and came home from our hike to find a big piece of delicious Blueberry Cake in our cabin.
We have stayed at cottages in Sooke and on Saltspring before and have payed a little less, and a little more. The value for us is hands down, Orveas Bay Resort. We will be back......
Enjoy !!

“Truly amazing, so relaxing.”

We enjoyed our stay at Orveas Bay so much. The cottage was beautiful and we felt right at home. We enjoyed hours of relaxing and reading in the hot tub, and the amazeballs ocean view didn't hurt either.

Stayed with a friend We could only book one night but when we arrived we immediately wished we could stay longer. The Captains Quarters was a beautiful spacious accommodation and fully equipped with everything you need including the basics for breakfast.
There is a two tiered deck with beautiful views. We ate our supper on the deck and it was just idyllic.

“piece of paradise”
Reviewed June 11, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We had such a great time in Sooke staying at the Orveas Bay Resort. It is very private, beautiful scenery and very nice hosts with really good tips about where to go and what to do. It is such a relaxing place, I bet the clock ticks slower there :) Orveas Bay resort has all the accommondations from a nice bbq, a hammock, a hot tub, volleyball...fireplace, we just loved the place! Sooke is a 20 minute drive away and so is a gas station and a grocery store, so this is def a place for a quiet and relaxing time. I slept like a rock there and we both want to come back.. Thanks to JUne an Ron for creating such a gem!!
