While visiting Sooke we made the drive to East Sooke and to visit the Regional Park there which offers a variety of hikes. We made the short and easy trek down to Iron Mine Bay Beach through the beautiful ferned and mossy forest. Magic! The trail is 20 minutes each way....toilets on site. Breathtaking views from the beach and lots of little tidepools and rocks to investigate.

Very well marked paths. Beautiful views and ocean access. We highly recommend that this hike be followed by a visit to the Smoking Tuna restaurant. We would have missed this experience if not for our helpful hostess at A Point of View B&B.

We packed a picnic and headed out to the park for a hike. The trail is well travelled and easy to follow. A little rough in some areas but navigatable for all of us.....some older than 60 years....

the trails were very well maintained and easy access... and we loved the fact there were volunteers at the parking lot... using a cell phone ? expect roaming charges.

Absolutely the most amazing hike & beautiful views ever!! However-- Beware...the locals do this trail weekly. They will tell you it takes an hour and a half from the parking lot at Aylard Farms to get to Beechey Point. This is not accurate! We are in shape, fit, and primarily hike on vacations...there is no way to do this trail in under 3 hours round trip & stopping to take pictures. The locals will also tell you it gets dicey(rocky, jumping boulders, etc.) after Beechey Point...again, beware...the boulders and craziness begin shortly after the petroglyphs. The reason this is important is we were hiking with my parents-- 75 & 69. The locals will say it's fine for their age and the older lady who is a helper in the parking lot will tell you the same. The coastal trail - after the petroglyphs--is not appropriate for 60 and over. There are very challenging jumps off boulders and stability risks after this point. There is a right turn at the petroglyphs that will take you inland...back to the parking lot. I would recommend taking this turn inland for anyone that doesn't want a challenge. My husband, teenage girls, and myself loved this trail. It's very challenging after the petroglyphs and fun! The vistas are incredible. Pack a picnic lunch and lots of water. Eat on the beach below the parking lot. Bring lots of water too. There is nowhere to buy any food or drinks.
