We asked at the Victoria Information Center for a good place to get out of town and see some natural beauty and do a little hiking. The clerk immediately suggested the short drive out to Sooke (about 40 min.) and gave several suggestions as to where to go for a variety of activities. We ended up at East Sooke Park because it had both beach and forest hikes. We ended up on a 1-hour hike that hugged the coast before turing inward through the beautifully dense forests back to our car. The coast was mostly rocky but had some nice sandy sections that were not terribly crowded. The hike was breathtaking for being so accessible (one of our fellow hikers wasn't much of one). We would have liked to explore more in the area if able - simply gorgeous.
