We stayed for 4 nights July 28-august 1 in the First Mates Cabin. We absolutely loved our stay. Comfortable and relaxing. It is just like visiting a friend. Ron and June have toght of almost evything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. When tidying our room one morning, Ron even noticed my daughter was using the turtle lamp at night to use yiur ipod all night without bothering me. He replaced the turtle with a lovely night light. They are knowledgable of the area and pointed us to the finest beaches and meals in Sooke. Had some excitement when the downdown was vandalized and the bank set on fire in Sooke, again, they kept us updated on what was happening. Great, quiet and beatiful views and gardens. You won't regret your stay here!

I cant say one bad thing about Orveas Bay Resort. Me and my boyfriend stayed in the port cabin for a few nights and it was superb. Loved the layout of the cabin, and the cosy atmosphere. Every need had been anticipated, and more! We felt so relaxed watching the beautiful view of the ocean and cooking outdoors on the grill that was provided. On our first day there was a power outage for a few hours. It didnt bother us one bit. The next day, our hosts gave us a bottle of wine to compensate for this. Again, it had been no inconvenience to us but the sentiment was heart-warming. I would recommend this place 1000 %!

For a girlfriends getaway, we stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Between the gazebo hot tub to the nice little fireplace and eclectic movie collection...we made ourselves right at home. Great place to disconnect from the outside world and just spend time relaxing. We stayed in the First Mate's Quarters and next time think we might rent the 'Captain's Quarters' just because it looks a little more roomy...

We returned today from staying 3 nights July 13-15 at the Port Cabin at Orveas Bay Resort. The owners Ron and June thought of everything: breakfast provided in your own kitchen with good quality coffee and pancake mix, lots of thick towels, super clean amenities, nice sized hot tub on your own private deck, gardens surrounding your cabin, walk to the beach on a private trail, comfy couch, nice comfortable bed, relaxing music, CD/DVD player for your own movies and music, fireplace and view of the ocean from your own bed. We stayed in the Port Cabin for 3 nights after doing the West Coast Trail and our hosts, Ron and June were such great hosts they offered to do our laundry and took a personal interest in our every comfort. They even waited at our door on the day of our arrival! My family has been in the landlord business for over 30 years and I cannot say we did as much as Ron and June to see everything necessary for a perfect stay was there available to our guests. They have a beautiful property but more than that they obviously care about their guests. It showed and I cannot recommend their fine establishment enough. You will not be disappointed! I cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: The Port Cabin was absolutely beautiful! Large shower, good size and nice decorations to compliment...

We had booked this one on line without knowing anything about the place except for the pic's on line.. What a great choice !!! The pic's do not do it justice .. This is a great place to go and just relax, and if you like to read there are a lot of books as well .. if you like going to the beach there are many around as well as well as the local history and neat shops nearby.. but bring your provisions as the town is about a half hour away .. WE WILL BE BACK !!!

We recently stayed at Orveas for our 8th annual girls weekend. It is our 7th trip to Orveas, and we have always had a great experience. When we arrive Friday afternoon/evening it is nice to come “home” to a clean, fresh abode and a wood fire that’s all ready to go. We find the kitchen well stocked with milk, juice and condiments and bring plenty of our own groceries for a relaxing stay-in weekend. We love having the full kitchen to prepare meals. We take advantage of the hot tub while we are there, and understand there is a lovely beach for walking, however, we have been unable to collect enough energy to make the 5 minute trek as we are too comfortable lounging in the living room, reading and chatting. Maybe next year we’ll make it down there. There are three of us and we are quite comfortable in the Captain’s Quarters, there are enough beds to go around and we never run out of hot water. One drawback is that the tap water is undrinkable, but there is bottled water readily available.

We also have pedicures at the local spa (Le Sooke Spa) on our Saturday afternoons, which is a perfect addition to our girls weekend.

We would highly recommend Orveas for travellers.

Room Tip: Captain's Quarters is large with a beautiful view of the water, and close to the hot tub.

We stayed in the Port Cottage for three nights. Ron and June have done a great job furnishing the cottage and supplying almost everything you need to make for a comfortable stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well maintained. The room has its own baseboard heaters and a gas fire for extra heat and ambiance. There is a walk-in shower with lots of hot water. Two bedside lamps, off the wall, so you can actually read in bed. TV with good supply of DVDs. Don't think you get cable. The fridge had milk, cream, sauces, syrup. Also supplied was ample coffee, tea and seasonings. You have to use the supplied drinking water as they collect water off the cliff and pump it back up to a holding tank for use in the showers, toliet, kitchen. Lots of reading material supplied. We loved having our own hot tub just outside the door and at 105 degrees F it was the ideal temperature with a magnificant view of the sea and passing ships. There is adequate natural screening between Port and Starboard cottages and they are far enough apart as not to be a problem. We met friends who were staying at the Captain's and First Mate Cabins (small world) and were invited to look around their cottages. Magnificant. big, roomy and very comfortable for a family or group of friends. For us - too much space for just a romantic weekend - we prefered Port Cottage. Things to do: walk down the cliff to their beach - 10 minutes and recommended you use one of their supplied walking sticks. There is a 3.4 Km CRD forest walk about 15 minutes walk away with a short side trip to visit the now unused lighthouse (through walkers gate (not locked) and down the vehicle road). All-in-all a relaxing place to stay. Probably better in the summer when you can make more use of the garden and games supplied - horse shoes, volleyball, badmington. Recommended - yes.

Room Tip: Port and Starboard are the same design and equally good views. No difference between them. Captain...
