“Amazing weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2014

Just got back from the Parker's Lodge, Family Day weekend. It was an excellent experience, the place is beautiful, food was tasty and owner's are really helpful and friendly. We enjoyed skiing and snowboarding during the day and relaxed at the lodge during the evening. Pool, ping-pong and movies, everything in a quiet and enjoyable atmosphere. Will definitely go back there again. Thank you for everything Jan and Malgorzata.

In Spring 2012 I've visited Parkers Lodge for the first time.
Healthy food, amazing beds and Jan and Margaret as wonderful hosts.
In Autumn 2012 I was, after 2 weeks very intensive work, again at Parkers Lodge.
The food is better, entering your bedroom is like entering heaven, and my confidence in Jan and Margaret is only increased.

No need to give stars. By night , when you're in the garden, you can see them all.
And if it isn't enough, you can see them all reflected in the beautiful lake.

Thanks a lot.

New owners continue to make improvements since our last trip and review below on Aug. 4/11!!
Once again we stayed at the chalet, that has had its kitchen/living area layout redone to offer more space and lots of built in cupboards & a sink. Electrical outlets have been added and the water facing wooden-framed screen windows have been replaced with sliding aluminum windows. There is a new modern wood burning fireplace. Still lots of water craft [several free paddleboats & canoes & even a catamaran Sailboat that one can rent], a LOVELY lake for swimming in a lake that does not allow for gas motors on boats], PEACE and QUIET, and SUPERB European cuisine. We will be back next year for our 5th annual visit!

Thanks for a great weekend! This is a historical site with all the trappings of time caught in knick-knacks and cubby-holes... it takes more than a whole weekend to explore the place! For instance, each room is named after a geographic location and tiny matching cupboards line the back of the bar on the ground floor - this goes back to the day when lodgers left their liquor by the bar!
The new owners gave us a great tour of the place and are working to bring the lodge back up to its prime as it had suffered from many years of neglect.
The beds are comfy, the rooms are spacious - we chose "England" and had an amazing view of the sunrise over the lake.

We're definitely planning on going back - there's so much to do, from swimming to paddling to playing croquet or pétanque or frisbee or soccer to hanging out on the deck... try it for yourself!

Room Tip: The top floor has rooms with a great view and are quieter.

The former Parker's Lodge, now Auberge Lac Paquin, is truly a “diamond in the rough”, which is being lovingly restored by its NEW owners, since February 2011, Jan & Margarette, Be prepared to ‘step back in time’ when you enter this authentic Swiss style lodge opened in 1948.
I have been spending a weekend there annually since 2007 and while maintenance suffered under the previous owner, this is quickly being rectified! We always stay at the Chalet, a 2 bedroom self-contained unit on top of a boathouse on the lake. The unit’s amenities include fireplace, TV/VCR, bathroom with tub & shower, a small kitchenette with microwave, coffeepot, bar fridge, toaster, etc., as well as sofa bed and kitchen table & chairs…and a panorama of the lake from either the living room/kitchen or the huge deck that now includes a BBQ, as well as a full patio set! A bargain for $136/nite!
Swimming in this pristine half-mile wide lake is an unforgettable experience, and it is a joy to swim in a lake where only electric motors are not permitted on boats—not only for the cleanliness of the water, but also for the PEACE and QUIET of the setting. Water sports at the lodge now include not only paddle boats and canoes, but also fishing rods, windsurfers and sailing on a small catamaran.
The lodge itself and the chalet all share the use of pine-board walls, which are decorated with old art as well as lovely wood carvings. It is filled with antiques and knickknacks of a bygone era. . Linens and duvets are new additions to all the bedrooms, as well as lots of lawn furniture and a shaded swing on the large, lawn that slopes down to the lake.
Another major change was the meals offered, which reflected our advance requests for different types of meals there and did much to accommodate our requests. The assortment of items varied as we asked for ‘meat’ and non-meat items on different days. Over 2 different meals: breakfasts included a hearty assortment of cold meats, local eggs, toast & breads, fruit, cakes, apple pancakes, etc.; and supper items included chicken stuffed with pickles and onions, cabbage perogies, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes & gravy cucumber salad, chicken noodle soup, Asian noodle soup, a variety of cakes and sliced fruits for our desserts! Great quality, selection & value for only $17 for full course dinners and $10 for complete breakfasts! It was also wonderful to eat some of the meals on the covered verandah, overlooking the lake!!
The hosts are very welcoming and have made significant changes to the property & we were delighted to see that the LOVE they have for it is evident! They have ambitious plans to make many more changes to improve the infrastructure while preserving the lodge’s historical ambiance, which makes it a rare gem in the Laurentians! We have booked our next annual summer weekend and already are looking forward to it!
