Okay, so there definitely are limited motel options when staying in Wawa.
We wanted to be right in town, so that eliminated the two best reviewed properties in the area. We insisted on accommodations that were clean and safe. We also didn't want to be forced to pay what we felt were exorbitant prices for just basic accommodations. That left us with the Algoma Motel.
It doesn't look like much from the outside (or from the inside for that matter), but it delivers where it counts. Sure the room decor is dated and the bathrooms are straight out of the 1950's (pink and green), but they are very clean and fairly comfortable for a night or two. They offer homey touches such as free coffee and muffins in the morning, and there is also free WIFI access if you travel with your laptop.
The towels provided in the bathroom are quite thin and small, and the only toiletries offered are institutional wafers of pre-wrapped soap, so bring your own!
I wish there were better choices in Wawa, but at the same time having to pay any more than $60 a night for accommodations in this town is, I feel, highway robbery.
