We were camping in Lake Superior Provincial Park for a week in mid August, and took a day to visit the sites around Wawa. To get to these waterfalls you take a dirt road right off highway 17 (there is a sign on the highway), it's only about a five minute drive. The falls are quite spectacular and there's a small trail you can take on the right side to view them from different angles. There's also a small covered picnic area.
Another spot we loved was Sandy Beach, an absolutely gorgeous stretch of Lake Superior beach - sand dunes and crystal clear water. We spent two afternoons sunning and swimming here - the water was amazingly comfortable for Lake Superior! To get to this beach, you take the turnoff to Michipicoten Village(right off highway 17) and follow the Sandy Beach signs. Absoultely worth the 10 minute drive.
