“Mice!!!!”
Reviewed August 21, 2010

Where do I begin? We were supposed to rent a cabin for 3 weeks while on business in Wawa. Firstly, they double booked the cabin and made us move to rooms twice, which was a huge inconvenience because we needed the amenities in the cabins (stoves etc). The phone in our cabin did not work, and they didn't bother to fix it. The wireless Internet rarely worked. There was a wasp nest outside of one cabin that we stayed in, and they failed to do anything about it. And the crowning glory was when we found our food had been nibbled on by mice one night! At this point, we decided that complaining was pointless, so we just packed up and left as soon as we could. We would have left sooner, but most places are pretty booked up in Wawa in August. If you do stay there, do not rent the cottages and do not stay for long, because they have no use for long term customers. We will not be going back. Oh and the room service people made us empty our own garbages and give it to them...they wouldn't even come into the room and do their jobs.

We had two rooms reserved based on the internet sight (looked good). When we arrived, we checked in to our rooms (one a single, the other a double). Room #6 was nice (the double), but room #7 smelled horrible. Not sure what the smell was (excess carpet cleaner), but it caused our eyes to burn and then water. When we told the owner, he came to see the room for himself. He said he didn't smell anything and offered us a small fan - it was not enough to remove the odor/burning sensation. We had no choice but to stay there (more sensitive person "traded" rooms with another in our group), and no discount was offered (cost of room $85 + tax). We will never return to that motel, and we made sure to do the "sniff test" on all other lodges for the rest of our vacation BEFORE checking in.

A nice surprise after driving around Wawa. Delightful hosts, comfortable room, delicious food. Slight road noise, but not enough to disturb sleep. Being from the U.S. the celsius on the room temperature control was a little confounding, but we were comfortable.

We were on summer vacation up from the states to see Wawa. Our first night, we opted to camp along the lakeshore, only to be rained on quite heavily..... so, we decided to motel it for the next night so that we could get some much needed sleep.

We stumbled across the Best Northern and thought that it had a nice "curb appeal". Our room rate was $89.00 per night per room and I felt that was fair. In the states I travel for a living and spend alot of time in hotels and motels, so I am especially keen to the amenities, bed comfort, staff, etc. I can honestly say that this motel was a nice "two thumbs up" stay. The staff was very nice and kind. The motel has recently been renovated. I would recommend this motel to anyone traveling thru the area.

The next morning we wanted to have some breakfast, so the whole gang ordered breakfast and it was very, very good! Large portions of food, real maple syrup, a quality dining affair.

We took a walk down the hill on the backside of the motel to the river... very nice river to check out.

All in all, you would not go wrong staying here. I am actually planning a trip back during snowmobile season. A great place to park it with your friends for a snowmobile trip.... Hot tub, nicely stocked bar, great room and awesome food. How can you go wrong??

By all means, check it out if you can.

Cute little Motel with Bikes and Canoes available, a wonderful restaurant, a billiard table and hot tub. Newly renovated rooms. Owned and operated by an extremely accommodating and friendly couple. We biked to two different beaches (both about 20 minutes away) on Lake Superiors....absolutely gorgeous.

This stay was with three other couples, so we rented two cottages. I was ok with that, though the cottages would not have been our first choice. The cottages had the amenities you'd expect - but our bedroom had a bunk bed with double bed on the bottom. As my husband is tall, I slept on the top bunk to give him more room. Thin mattress made for a less than comfortable night. Also, neither bunk bed was made with other than the bottom sheet, had to make them up ourselves.
