Booked a "Best Available Rate Newly Renovated Room With 2 Double Beds" at the Atlantic Host on Expedia.ca.
When we arrived we were assigned a room that was definitely not renovated, as became clear from the mold on the edge of the chipped tub.
Went back to the front desk, where it became clear there were nonewly renovated rooms available! However, the lady at the front desk had a room that was for sure better (makes you wonder, eh?). And she was going to talk to "him" (presumably the manager) about the listing.
The room was better, no mold that is. The only renovation we discovered was a new ceiling and new beds; still an old bathroom, old wall paper and in desperate need of a paint job.
Didn't hear from a manager, so finally went to the front desk again. Couldn't get an afternoon nap anyway, due to the construction noises from the room next door!
The lady at the front desk argued about the definition of "newly renovated": the room is in fact renovated, just not completed yet...
However, if we wanted to move to a fully renovated room she could arrange that... I passed, since it was our last night...
So, if you book the hotel at Expedia.ca, or through the hotel's own web site for that matter, be aware: you may not get what you think you were getting!
To top things of: check-out changed on us from noon to 11AM. Oh, the guest book in your room says noon? Must not have been updated yet.
On the plus side: pool is nice. Also, food and service in the restaurant are good.
