The atmosphere is great but the wait between courses was long. THe restaurant was not that busy so this baffled me. Portions are very small which is okay with me but extremely expensive also which is not okay. The food was very tasty but small in portion. We left feeling we did not get good value for our money.k

Very highly priced and the meal wasn't that good. I was shocked at the prices. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Has the old mansion feel.

My mother and I had dinner at Butlers at the Mansion in Qualicum Beach. What a delightful place! The two dining areas and the decor are really sumptuous/gorgeous. As the title of my review says; this place is very high end but not stuffy at all. Gorgeous decor and excellent friendly service. I had a the seafood chowder and the house salad. The chowder was a little bland although still pretty good. The salad was large and nicely presented with lots of veggies. My mother had the seafood platter for one. It was very large (she took half home), nicely presented and (she advised) was very good. We shared the lemon tart for dessert which was very zingy. It was a cream puff pastry with a lemon custard and whipping cream.
A great place for a leisurely dinner. Dress up a little if you go as it's that kind of place but no need for an evening gown or tux either.

WE are visiting the Island for a month and after much research, we found Butler's. Our first visit was for lunch. David was exceptional in his professionalism. Made suggestions and explained the chef's oreintation. Dungeness crab cakes (2 large ones) were the best I have had in many years. Mushroom soup was full of fresh mushrooms yet it was light. The ambiance of the old home takes you back to an elegance that is hard to find. Four days later we were back in Qualicum for a Sunday afternoon play (great). Aftr the play we returned for dinner. There are two dining rooms, so we took the one where we had not had lunch. Both rooms have a distant view of the water. Davis was our waiter again (he remembered us). He recommended wines from the Averill Winery (South of Nanaimo near Duncan). We had visited the winery earlier so we agreed with his recommendations. The soup was a red pepper & garlic, Again full of flavor yet still light (we split a bowl which ws served in individaul bowls). Shrimp cocktail was fresh and nicely chilled. I had chicken cordon bleu. Was only able to finish half of it. The rest is in the fridge. If you visit this lovely town, lunch or dinner is a must. We will probably be back once more before we depart for home even though it is a 45 miinute drive from Nanaimo. Be sure to relax and enjoy you dining experience.

We recently tried Butlers at the Mansion and were very impressed with the duck breast salad. One of our party had the crab cakes, and they were pronounced delicious.

We even had dessert and all three -- apple tart, carrot cake and the molten lava cake -- were really well executed.

Beautiful atmosphere in a hundred year old refurbished mansion and congenial attentive service. The prices are expensive, but they are supported by the quality of the food.

We will definitely be back to Butlers.
