If you are looking for that something extra to take the family or friends for a special occasion, this is the place. A group of 7 of us, including 2 children aged 8 and 11, ordered the 3 course meal, which was specially prepared by Giovanni himself. We had no idea what the meal would consist of which only added to the intrigue. Our meal was prepared from scratch especially for us, the australian lamb was to die for. We all left feeling extremely satisfied, from the appetizers to the desert. The service was quick, and a visit from the chef at the end of our meal to check on our well being and answer any questions we might have was a fantastic personal touch, that is rarely found in our society today. It was a pleasant surprise to be treated like humans and not cattle as one so often is when dining out.

The four of us went to Giovanni's prior to attending the stage theatre. Once again this restaurant exceeded our expectations with an outstanding menu, well priced specials and a great atmosphere. Three had the lame shank special while I had the lobster pasta - all being prepared and presented to perfection. A great place to dine when you are in Qualicum Beach, BC.

We have eaten twice at Giovanni's and both times enjoyed the meal very much. It was a very welcome surprise the first time we discovered Giovanni's last summer, as we were looking for a change from the meals at the Cedar Room at Tigh na Mara. Giovanni's offered good Italian fare served by a very pleasant staff. We fell into conversation with the couple at the table next to us and had a really nice evening.

Nine months later we returned with my mum, who lives in Qualicum and is very exacting in her standards. Even she was impressed with the food. Another very good meal and a fun evening out.

I am surprised at some of the negative comments from some other reviewers, as we have found both food and service to be good. It is a very good choice for a night out in the Parksville-Qualicum area of Vancouver Island.

This place came highly recommended, unfortunately did not live up to its expectations.
Service was ok, a little too forced. Flavours were dissapointing in my pasta. Highly overpriced for what you get.

We first went to Giovanni's as part of a large (36-38 people) neighborhood group. We all had the 3 course fixed meal which was very good. We had out-of-town guests a week later who wanted Italian food so we decided to return. We had a 6:30 reservation on a Friday night and we were glad we did as it was SRO by 7:30. Even at that there was no sense of urgency for us to leave-we were not at all rushed to finish. We were pleasantly surprised when we were presented with a complimentary order of bruschetta-which was delicious. We all had salads to start which were also very good. I had the fettucine carbonara which was excellent; I had a grilled sausage on the side which was good but the next time I would ask if a 'spicy' sausage were available. My wife had the linguine pescatore (blanco) which she described as " the best pasta I have had in a long time". One of our friends had pollo boscaiola (chicken breast with portobello and oyster mushrooms) served with a side dish of pasta and an array of perfectly cooked vegetables which she would 'order again'. The only slight disappointment was the 1/2 rack of lamb which our other friend ordered medium but which was more to the well-done side. Dessert (an unfloured chocolate torte) was to die for and one piece was sufficient for the four of us to share. Our server (Tim) was friendly and attentive. We look forward to our next visit.
