During a two week tour of the Canadian Maritimes, I found myself in the quaint little town of St. Andrews. After asking at the hotel for an authentic pub, I was directed to the Red Herring, which sits on the water What a find! This place is the real deal. Beer selection is huge, service is efficient and the owner, Kevin, a robust Irishman, went the extra mile and printed out a list of pubs for me at my next stop, Bar Harbor, ME. This is a place the locals patronize and everyone treated me like one of their relatives. Chowder was excellent, lobster rolls contained nothing but 1/4 lb. of lobster, no filler like many places. And the size of the fish and chips, it's enough to share. Emma served a party of 12 with great efficiency and a big smile. If you're looking for great food and drink in a friendly place, I'd visit the Red Herring Pub.
