We went to the restaurant because of reading about it in the guide book we had. The place did not seem at first blush as a place where you could get a first class meal. It looked like a place where maybe you could get a decent hamburger. We however had a great meal of fish (tuna) and thought the meal was the best one we had on a two week vacation in Canada. The owner who was cooking the meals on the deck on a grill was quite charming and modest about the quality of the meal. Eating on the deck overlooking the water was very nice. Highly recommend it.

My wife and I spent a night in St Andrews, stayed at the Tara Manor Inn and visited the Kingsbrae Gardens. We have been to St Andrews many times over the years but have never gone to eat at the Niger Reef Tea House, located near the St Andrews Block House (national historic site) and the Centennial Park/Gardens officially opened by Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1967.
The cafe is not very big, maybe it has about 10 - 15 tables. It has a number of outdoor tables overlooking the beautiful water. The menu features some wonderful sandwhiches, salads, and delicious desserts. It was very good and can't wait to go back and try something different! I had a sandwich and my wife had a potato and onion torte. Both were excellent choices.

This nice cafe is right next to the blockhouse our party ordered the soup of the day (a very chunky but tasty vegetable soup) and fish chowder (spot on, very fresh and cooked just right mix of fish, shrimp, scallops) as well as the tasty fish cakes and lobster salad sandwich. Good lemonade and a decent iced tea of the day (sweetened or unsweetened.) A bit of a wait for the food but not a problem given our drinks were quickly served and we were chatting among friends.

Quality very good, prices reasonable and setting is lovely, overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay. The 1926 cottage has been restored courtesy of a locally-based Foundation and was originally the first hapter housee of the "Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire. There is a large deck with umbrellas for the nice days. Nice old Mural inside, apparently old and restored.

This tea house was recommended to us for lunch and we enjoyed a relaxing meal on the deck next to the bay. The meal was delicious and simple, well priced and the service was friendly and welcoming. We passed a lovely afternoon over lunch, dessert and tea and then walked out into the bay at low tide. Excellent.
