“Good family fun from tots to teens, wonderfully beautiful”
Reviewed July 18, 2011

My kids really did not want to visit a garden (boring, they moaned) but once they got there they were really impressed. Truly breathtaking gardens all around. This is a place you can come to again and again to enjoy. Obviously for adults, it's a place of refreshment and beauty.

What did our kids like? They had a blast in the children's area with miniature houses (even my teens). They really enjoyed the garden area with all the fruits growing--the garden encourages you to sample their growing produce, so we got to try currants, cherries and other fruits right from the tree. We also got to see other fruits in various stages of growth, including kiwis and grapes. They also enjoyed seeing the animals, including a brand new baby llama (I think that's what it was).

One of the things I really liked was the signs indicating what the plants were. These were fairly well done, although they could have used some more, as some of the plants weren't identified. Only disappointment for my kids was that they had just replanted the labyrinth hedge, and it was only about 3-4 feet high, so they could all see over it, making the maze pretty much useless. It'll take a few seasons to grow in, just giving a heads up.

We only planned to spend an hour here and actually spent about 3 hours. Really great place to see, well worth it. A definite don't miss for St. Andrews.

“Gardens - Cafe - Gardens - Cafe. Um, both win”
Reviewed June 29, 2011

Strolled beautiful gardens on perfect day. Wild doe and fawn greeted us at the gate and wandered off. At Cafe patio, with soft music playing and a view of the croquet field, we enjoyed homemade quiche and turkey panini with iced tea. Meal was so good we returned today for more of the same! Thank you Colin for your very pleasant service. The gardens are vast and create a relaxing "Garden of Eden" atmosphere for young and old to enjoy, whether discovering a plant or tree you've only seen in a book or watching the animals, those who are cared for there or those butterflies, bees, birds and yes, deer who choose to visit such a place. If St. Andrews is on your list, and it should be, don't miss the gardens and the cafe. Pick up a buy one get one 1/2 price coupon first ($21 for 2 adults)

“Every turn in the path yields a treat for your senses”

Fantastic mixture of flowers, landscapes, whimsies, edibles, and scultpure. I've been to many gardens, and this is one of the best and definitely the most fun. Don't miss the food at the cafe. There are even animals to keep small children amused. Wow!

We loved the walk and all the plants. We just wish that we could have went earlier in the year as the flowers were almost done blooming.
