“Amazing- We can't wait to return!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

We traveled to Kimberley for a 10day convention, and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay! The location was perfect in a quite cul-de-sac, two minutes by car up to the ski hill and convention centre, two minutes by car or a short scenic walk down the hill to downtown and the Kimberley Platzl (and directly across the street is a great authentic German restaurant).
The house is gorgeous, bright and spacious, and all original, local wood. We stayed in the Sulivan Suite, and our room was fabulous. The European style bedding was new to us, but it was very comfortable and the bed was good quality. We did share a washroom between the 3 adults in our party, but with the convenience of provided bathrobes the situation worked out just fine. All the facilities were clean and very well-kept, and there was always plenty of very hot water in the shower (which is very important to me). Our room opened directly into the garden and hot-tub area, and we thoroughly enjoyed the geenery and watching the deer right outside. Individual thermostat control in each room was a blessing, as I cought a cold part-way through our trip but was able to stay cozy warm in our room (and with a wonderful duvet) while I recovered.
Also, Anja makes the best breakfasts! Every morning we had a table bountifully spread with many homemade jams, homemade bread, buns, and croissants (my favourite), and variety of cheese and cold cuts, not to mention the beautiful authentic Dutch china. Additionally, every day at breakfast there was a hot offering, such as pancakes, blueberry waffles, omelet, eggs Benedict, etc and a plate full of fresh fruit for everyone. Anja also made sure she remembered each person's coffee/tea preference, how they prefered their eggs cooks, and our various dietary restrictions, which was very kind.
Anja and Theo both are great hosts, very welcoming and friendly, always ready to give us directions, and make great local recommendations.
Overall the atmosphere at the Alpenglow is wonderful- by the end of our stay, it was like saying good-bye to family. We will definitely stay here again, and have already recommended it to everyone.

Our family felt very welcomed. Our hosts made us feel at home and very comfortable! Our room was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were amazing! We were able to walk to town and in the evening, enjoy the hot tub.

Room Tip: A family of 4, we enjoyed the Kootenay room. Large with balcony and T.V. and dvd player.

At the end of a holiday we just wanted to relax for an evening and that is just what we did at Alpenglow. Near walking paths & a delicious restaurant, on site garden, hot tub & sitting room we could have been rather busy! Alas we spent a quiet night reading and had a wonderful rest. We woke up to a delicious selection for breakfast and a host speaking 3 different languages to 3 different sets of guests. It was a great way to interact with other travellers but we still had our own space.

The beds were comfortable, the amenities clean & the hosts were extremely helpful, friendly and had interesting stories to share. We will go back.

Oh and they provided housecoats to use! I loved that.

Room Tip: We loved the top floor as it had a deck, but we didn't see the others.

First timer at a bed & breakfast and all I can say is wow. Our hosts were very welcoming with delicious breakfasts, great conversations, and a clean and comfortable room. To be honest, it felt like we were visiting with family. They were great at entertaining our 3-year-old son who just can't sit still for breakfast. I can only imagine how cozy this place must be in the winter. I may need to plan a ski-trip sooner than later. I highly recommend this B&B. Thank you for everything Anja & Theo!

This place lives up to its reviews. The location is very nice and convenient- a stroll from town. Anja was a gracious hostess who prepared a very hearty filling breakfast and filled us in on good restaurants, nearby hikes, etc. Our room was lovely and cool on a hot summer day. They had a good collection of DVDs. The bed was large but unfortunately had a bit of a dip towards the middle (minor thing really). Would recommend this place for sure!
