“Amazing view, rooms mediocre at best.”
Reviewed July 21, 2012

We stayed 2 nights at the Riotel in Percé in July 2012. We were in the section Pavillion. First off, we reserved from the website, and it was impossible to reserve for 2 adults and 2 children in the room. So when I made the reservation, I reserved for 4 adults thinking that some places consider children as adults. I find out when I was checking in that children stayed free and it was impossible to change our reservation so we paid the price for 4 adults. We got in late, and it was too late to find another hotel so we stayed anyway. The room was ok. Small. Outdated decor but very comfortable beds. But when we got in the room, it was HOT. No air conditionning, no ceiling fan. We opened the 2 very small windows and left the door wide open until it was time to sleep. But it was uncomfortable the first night. After leaving the windows open all day the next day and leaving the door open an hour or 2 the second night, we slept better.

The view is AMAZING. Our room had a view on Bonaventure Island. Most rooms in the main pavillion had a view on the rocher Percé.

We only dined at the restaurant at breakfast. Since a tour bus was at the hotel at the same time we were, service at the restaurant was slow because they were always serving the tour people first, which meant service for regular tourists was slow. However, the wait staff were extremely nice, amicable and apologetic for the delays.

Concerning location, the hotel is very well situated and a 5 minute walking distance from the pier where all boats leave for Bonaventure Island. So, during our 2 night stay, we didn't use our car once. It is also on the waterfront and you can reach the rocky beach from the hotel property.

Room Tip: Choose a room with air conditionning if travelling during July.

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to write your comments on TripAdvisor. We welcome comments like yours in order for us to better ourselves. We would like to investigate more the situation that occured in regards
to the number of people in the room. We do have a policy where children stay free in the same room as the parents. Also, we would like to see what site you used to make your booking. If you could contact
me directly, I will be more than happy to go over this issue with you in order to satisfay your demand.
At Riotel Percé, we have many different types of accomodations that ranges from economy to deluxe. A room with air condionning would have satisfied your needs, especially during the hot summer months.
We try to serve everyone on the same level, bus tours or individual. We would like to apologize for the delay when you were at the restaurant.
We hope that you will consider us again in the future if you plan to visit Percé.

We enjoyed our stay very much.We stayed for three nights. From the time we checked in, till the time we checked out, it was a safe and friendly feeling. An incredible view of Perce rock and the sound of the waves made sleeping all the more better. The restaurant was pricey but the best meal I've had in a long time.
Wonderful people and atmosphere and oceanfront! We will go back for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view room....it's worth it!

we decided to stay in Riotel Perce because of the All You Can Eat Lobster package which includes an overnight stay and breakfast. It turns out to be a nice room we got. it is a standard but facing the rock of which we can see clearly. the size is standard, but the bed is new, comfortable, pillows are soft, fluffy, and supportive to my back when reading. The bathroom has been renovated with new tiles, small though but importantly clean, we feel that we deserve it after camping in the national park. there is a small fridge, since i usually bring my favourite food that require fridging.
Finally the all you can eat, is really all you can eat.

We stayed at the Riotel for 2 nights in June 2012, and it was an unforgettable experience. First of all, Perce is the prettiest little town in Canada (OK, maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but it is really a beautiful place). From the hotel you have a full view of the famous Perce Rock (one of my pictures was taken in the parking lot of the hotel). It is a less than 10 minute walk from the hotel to the pier, where you can take a chartered boat ride to Bonaventure Island. Or if you have a room with a view (like we did), you can just open the window and sit back, sip your favorite drink and relax.

The rooms are nothing fancy but clean. To be honest we didn't even notice if there was a pool or not, but who cares. The view of Perce Rock at sunset alone is worth the price.

But there is more -- on top of all this, we got an incredible deal -- for $89 per person, you get the unlimited lobster dinner, a night of stay and a breakfast, tips included! We each ate 3 lobsters, and these were the freshest, most delicious lobsters we have ever had. In some other places we paid more for just the room. I am pretty sure the deal is only available in the off or shoulder season though.

I wish we had stayed longer, and I hope we will go back some day. If you are planning a trip and thinking about staying there, don't hesitate! Book it! You will love it.

It s a very nice hotel just in front of the rock and the island. Service is great and the chef is very good also, delicious meal and breakfast. Many rooms facing the sea, an exterior jacuzzi with beautifull sights, coffe maker, flat tv, frig. A peace of heaven. Excelent value for money. Rooms are very clean and the beds are very confortable. We are very pleased to have found this hotel in this beautifull place. Recomended 100%.

We had 2 nights in motel style rooms in a separate block, with an outside deck facing over the car park to the sea and Bonaventure Island. Breakfast on the deck was a good start to the day, we'll confess it came from the local co-op, not the hotel - most seemed to do the same.

Perce isn't big, so everything is within walking range and there's a nice boardwalk along the front which ends just before/at the hotel, which obvioulsy didn't want to play ball and kept its beach private. Plenty of restaurants at a range of prices, cheaper on the inland side without the view of the rock/island, in mid September this wasn't a concern.

The room was ok, we had shower pressure problems too, but it was variable. I didn't like the beds - too soft for me, they made a big thing about guests being able to buy the bedding, etc but for me and one of my sons they were the worst beds on the holiday, we like 'em firm (better for backs).

All in all, perfectly acceptable accommodation in a spectacular part of the Gaspesie.

Room Tip: get a motel room, buy your breakfast at the co-op the day before and enjoy the view
