This hotel has a beautiful view of the rock and very accessible to everything! It's fairly pricy in the summer but then again most hotels in Perce are. My wife and I throughly enjoyed our stay here...the rooms were nice and clean and we would stay here again!

First thing you notice (assuming you have a room with a view on the water - a must) is the gorgeous view of Percé rock and Bonaventure island. The hotel is well located - all activities of this small village are within walking distance. Our room was small but very confortable. The balcony was recently renovated and is now more private. You still feel close to your neighbor but at least they can't walk in front of your room. We didn't try the restaurant.

My wife and I recently stayed at Hotel La Normandie. Our room was spacious, clean and had an unbelievable view of Perce Rock and Bonaventure Island. I would recommend that you reserve a room on the ocean side of the hotel. In the evening, you can leave your sliders open and get the salty seabreeze which cools down your room. During our stay, we didn't need an air conditioner. From the hotel, you can easily walk along the beach in either direction. At low tide, you can even walk over to Perce Rock. The dinners and breakfasts that we had during our stay, were absolutely delicious and well-prepared. The wait staff was very attentive and met all our needs. If I were to ever visit Perce again, I would most certainly stay at this hotel.

Room Tip: For the best views, stay on the second or third floor on the ocean side of the hotel.

We have stayed at La Normandie 3 times now. Each has been a delightful and completely satisfying experience. The hotel is located right on the water with immediate access to the town’s seaside promenade (boardwalk). Some accommodations in the mountain behind require a significant walk and hill to climb. La Normandie has the best broadside view the “the rock” which is mesmerizing. It’s amazing how long one can just sit and stare at a large rock! The town is wonderfully small and intimate. Everything is within a 5 minute walk.

The hotel and grounds are absolutely spotless and well kept. Cleaning and maintenance are on par with the most exceptional hotels that we have stayed in worldwide. The bed and pillows are comfortable and encourage sleep. The bar and especially the dining room are charming and have enchanting views of the rock, the sea and Bonaventure Island. Since Perce has very few hot days and the hotel must survive on only a few months of income per year we had no expectations of any air conditioning and have never needed any during our stays. A fan is provided for warm nights but opening the sliding door to the sea breezes and the sound of the waves just outside is a much better treat.

Each time we have found the staff to be very friendly, bilingual, and efficient and to always exceed our expectations. They have responded immediately to any request with a smile and have taken the time to listen to any story that we bring them about our day – many of which I’m sure they’ve heard many times. We created such a special relationship with our dining room server that we couldn’t leave without a hug.

If you are expecting to compare the amenities of this hotel with the most extravagant and luxurious hotels in some large cities, you will be disappointed and probably shouldn’t be visiting the Gaspe Peninsula. It is simple yet elegant and completely fitting to Perce’s natural environment and is excellent value for the dollar. Our stay in Perce has been about appreciating and relaxing with the wonders of nature - the sea, the birds (you’ve got to check out the gannets on Bonaventure Island), the rock, and the whales (yes whales, right from the front lawn of the hotel) and La Normandie is the perfect location to do so.

BTW, if you’re up for something special, try “Bobs Special” from the bar and the VIA train from Montreal.

Room Tip: Go for the seaside view and the ground floor is great for access to the lawn and promenade.

Nice, expensive but not very accessible.
Ramp at main door is very short and steep, is more like a hump.
Ramp going to our room level was VERY steep (was not built with correct specifications).
TV reception very poor.
Room very nice and spotless.
We had a wonderful seaside view of the rock.
Staff very polite and friendly.

Room Tip: If you are in a wheelchair, be it manual or electric, you will have problems. Make sure you have an attendant with you.
