This is the loveliest pub in town. It's warm and inviting and has a wonderful ambience. Unfortunately, their food does not measure up.
We went in a party of four and found the menu to be quite interesting. What arrived was a let down. I had the meatloaf with onion rings. I declined the mashed potatoes and was served green beans instead. The first bite of meatloaf was slightly dry. The taste was a bit strange and it was over salted - and I usually like salt. It had obviously been kept warm in an oven and the edges were dry and hard. The onion rings were enormous and heavy with greasy batter. The green beans were abundant but stir fried and greasy. Everything was covered with a not bad gravy. It was a generous portion.
My partner had their fish and chips nightly special. This consisted of two pieces of panko bread crumb battered salmon and sweet potato fries. Now bread crumbs are intended for breading not to be used in batter. The batter was very thick but held much more oil than a conventional flour-based batter would. I found the batter to be under or un- seasoned. The sweet potato fries were very tasty. There was a portion of quite good coleslaw.
One of our friends had the regular fish and chips. This was cod but also fried in a bread crumb batter. She found the batter excessive and greasy as well. Her regular fries were also very good. Our other friend had their brisket dinner. This was quite good and served with mac'n'cheese. He seemed to enjoy it. The brisket was quite well prepared.
For dessert they have about four items on the menu. We had their apple crumble which was quite nice and a chocolate fudge layer cake. The cake was disappointing. The icing was heavy and tasted like it had come from a tin.
At about 1:00 am my partner awoke with nausea and vomiting. I attributed it to the considerable quantity of grease in his meal.
Charming as this establishment is, I would avoid their kitchen. If you do go in winter be aware that their enclosed porch room is not winterized and bitterly cold.

Great food, home cooked, interesting, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. Love this pub. We have a cottage in area and have tried most of the restaurants but this is a favorite. Well done!

Authentic irish food on that day. Live music Fri-Sat downstairs in intimate bar. Quieter upstairs on the porch. Good friendly service. Reasonably priced.

Three of us ate here Monday night. Two of us had the brisket with potatoes and coleslaw - the meat was so tender and flavorful and sides were great flavor choices. My daughter had the meatloaf and potatoes - she loved the potatoes and said the meatloaf was very good. Our only regret is not having another opportunity to come back soon. These were the best meals of our whole trip and we would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Our complements to the chef.
