We had some time to kill before getting on our 1000 Island Cruise, so we decided to drop in to the Old English Pub for some lunch. We were drawn into the restaurant by a sandwich board offering daily specials, and we were delighted.

The customer service was awesome, with a friendly, knowledgeable server.... An expansive offering of beverages from local craft breweries was offered (try the Flying Monkey Craft Brewery Sterio Vision!)

We had burgers, fries, and beer for just $21

Atmosphere was great.

Try this great pub on for size the next time you're in Ganonaque!

We had dinner here on May 13th, during one night stay in Gananoque. To be honest, it wasn't our first choice, our first two choices were not open on this particular Monday night. The atmosphere was nothing fancy (a pub as advertised), we sat next to the bar so as to catch some of the hockey on the flat screen. The young lady who served us was friendly and attentive; the beer selection, was great, really enjoyed some of the local brews. The four of us each had a different entrée, and though not great, certainly better than average. Not sure why some of the recent reviews were so negative, but we certainly recommend it.

We used to love the Old English Pub, but it's gone downhill.
We both ordered the steak and ale pie. It came with a gigantic piece of stale flaky pastry loosely mounted on top. Half the plate was piled high with dark french fries that must have been sitting in the deep fryer for a week, and were inedible. The meat was dry and tateless, in fact the whole thing was tasteless. There was no salad or vegetable.

We hear the place is for sale. I hope someone buys it and hires a decent chef. We won't be returning.

Pub atmosphere....Lady who "greeted" us not very friendly! Basically no personality! Male waiter good @ taking orders. Got the special of the day and chicken very dry and scalloped potatoes very tasteless....The green beans were excellent and cooked just right! Wishing I had tried something else. Will probably not return next time we travel to Gananoque!

Been there before. Had the seafood soup and loved it. Okay pub. Decent service, UNTIL

Went back for the evening meal recently with friends and suffered. Wallpaper paste for fish soup (cooking all day, eh?), lobster appetizer was tasty but missing any lobster, entrees were weird (chicken pot pie served with dry interior and then pour the luke warm broth/sauce over it?--oh boy), and even the fries were less than fresh.
To top it off, we were seated in the bar area. Fine. But one of the patrons who was there when we arrived, apparently had an eavesdropping ear and commented on our conversation when we got up to leave. He doesn't realize how lucky he is to have both his ears still intact.
I blame the server, whom he knew, and knew better than to seat us there..
We'll never return.
