Fabulous morning cruise with a very knowledgable, friendly Captain! Small ship, built for 12 passengers, we were lucky enough to travel with a total of 5. Room to roam, opportunity to sit/stand inside, outside, in the sun or shade throughout the tour. Captain shared his wealth of knowledge about the 1000 Island region and could answer all our questions in english and for other passengers, in french. Enjoyed a quick stop on an island to stretch our legs and enjoyed coffee and cookies on the return trip.

Forget the large boats, Captain Lance's 12 person Chuckles is the new kid on the block. Small,, comfortable, intimate are all good words to describe the experience. Captain Lance knows the islands well and provides a leisurely tour in a beautifully restored, quiet, diesel-electric powered former lobster boat. Of course there is room for improvement. Captain Lance needs to work on his commentary. Too much flattering of rather ostentatious holiday homes and not enough attention to the islands, their history, and the natural environment. I suggest he pen a script. He also needs to have that script translated into French so he can cater better for francophone guests. Island stop and wander a bonus as was the afternoon tea. We took the cruise and theatre package which was a good deal financially.

I enjoyed the Chuckles Discovery Tours trip I went on with my friend. The boat is beautifully restored, is quiet, with no heavy droning sounds, and is environmentally friendly. The boat is small enough that it gave me the feeling of a more intimate relationship with the water way, and it was easy to meet and converse with others that were aboard. There is lots of room to move and view the sights from many angles Captain Lance was informative, friendly and gave us a good preliminary outline of the trip we were to take as well as what safety features, and requirements were needed on such a vessel. We loved the feeling of friendship on board the boat, the stop over at an island, and the lovely cups of tea and biscuits came just at the right time. I will go again, and bring others with me.

Yesterday, my wife and I spent a lovely afternoon aboard Chuckles, touring the 1000 Islands as if it were our own boat! There were only 4 of us on a small cozy boat that seats a maximum of 12! It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect day to be on a boat on the water! We sat outside on the front deck for most of the journey through many islands – Captain Lance was able to come close to many islands and we saw the island life up close, and he had lots of commentary to add to the beautiful changing scenery! We stopped at a Parks Canada island, Endymion – and had a pleasant walk on the island and then returned to Chuckles for a tea/coffee/water and cookie refreshments … then went back through the islands to the 1000 Island Playhouse. We followed that with a dinner on the patio of the Gananoque Inn, and topped off the evening with a great play at the 1000 Islands Playhouse, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee – wonderful day and evening!

Captain Lance was a gracious and knowledgeable host about the islands, boating, navigating – and his boat is a gem of meticulous and loving care – shiny wood and brass, even nautical curtains tied with knots! We’ve done all possible boat tours of the 1000 islands and this was the best!

The tour lasted 3.5 hours and the morning tour that we plan on taking next year has a different route...and he even has a shorter evening sunset tour! See his website at http://www.chucklesdiscoverytours.com/index.html and be sure to click on 'tours' to view the maps of all 3 tours!
