“A little restaurant with big flavour”
Reviewed August 20, 2014

On a pouring rain night, at the advice of the brew master of the new brewery in town we ventured to the Socialist Pig. The food was unique and flavourful along with the local beer! A great duo. Worth a try indeed.

“Super Friendly. Fresh Food. Great Vibe.”
Reviewed August 19, 2014

We stopped in here for coffee the morning after having a horrible dinner the night before a few doors down. Took a peek at the menu and after enjoying our good strong iced coffee (made with love) decided we'd come back later that night. Sooo glad we did. Our 10 yr old was thrilled they had Apples to Apples to play while waiting for our food which didn't take too long at all. Tough to decide what to have 16 hour smoked brisket, or Orchard Ham grilled cheese (dijon mustard and grilled peaches - yummo). I decided on the 16 hr smoked brisket quesadilla and a fantastic bourbon drink. The quesadilla reminded me of something a brazilian friend of mine use to make. Sweet and savory and so amazingly fresh tasting. Please stop in to this establishment. Don't overlook it thinking it's a "coffeehouse". The "Pig" is way more than that. You won't regret entering and meeting any one of the wonderful people here. Shannon was a joy to chat with and you'll be made to feel at home instantly. Wished we lived nearby as this is the type of place we would frequent often.

“Best Fish Tacos, ever!”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

We spotted this restaurant on the way east, but couldn't stop, so we made a point of coming back through Gananoque a few days later specifically to eat here. We were not disappointed! Sat outside on the patio and enjoyed some great beer from the new brewery next door. Saw the fish tacos being served to a neighbouring table and decided that we would try them too! Outstanding! Service was prompt and pleasant. After our meal, we decided to go into the coffeeshop side of the business & get some cappuccino to go. The barista was good and made our drink the way we asked for it. We also bought a date square - which was probably the best date square I have had - it had a lovely lemon zest added to it, which cut out the cloying sweetness which date squares often suffer from. This will definitely be a favourite stop on our way to & from Montreal in the future.

“Best Little Coffeehouse in Town”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

We went on the recommendation of my sister-in-law in Montreal. So glad we did. Out of the ordinary coffeehouse. Food was super and the service excellent. I ordered a Caesar's Salad and was expecting the usual. Instead, it had the long leaves in tact with the sauce nicely spread over. This was topped with bacon bits and ......2 poached eggs! Nice combination. The "croutons" were actually a slice of sourdough bread. All in all, it was a lovely experience and will go back the next time we're in Ganonoque. Well done!
