Country Squire Resort & Spa

Place was not that busy .Buildings were clean and warm. Their pool and jacuzzi a great treat after a winter drive. The breakfast selection was limited -- ( probably to be expected at quieter
times). The waffles are good and made to order served with a smile.
This hotel is decent base for travellers going to or from Ottawa Montreal and Toronto, touring the Thousand Islands sights or just going to the Casino.
Caseys bar is independently owned is attached to hotel. Food is good basic selection and good enough to
save time and trouble of more driving searching for a local eatery.

Room Tip: The grounds look enchanting even if most everything is under a meter of snow. It must be relaxing...

Stayed here for one night in July/2013 because we wanted to visit the nearby Gananoque Casino. Room was clean but beds were like sleeping on flat rocks! They need better outdoor lighting esp. in alleyways. Breakfast was okay - do it yourself waffles were delicious... Tim Horton's right next door for coffee runs!

Room Tip: Main Building rooms look nicer than outdoor ones were. Indoor Pool was nice.

We decided to stay in Gananoque rather than Kingston to visit the thousand islands. We were not disappointed. Gananoque is a very nive small town, probably less touristy than Kingstone. We went at the end of September so was pretty quite.
We stayed at the Best Western hotel for 2 nights and were very happy with it. They have great facilities including a swimming pool, jacuzzi and hot breakfast. The staff was nice and helpful, advised us of the best boat tour to purchase, etc. It wasn't expensive either so good value for money.
It is only 5 minutes drive from town centre.

I stayed there at the beginning of December. I was surprised by the huge property the hotel owned. It is probably a very fun place to stay in the summer with a lot of outdoor activities. The hotel was a bit out dated, but the rooms were clean and big with no complaints. We stayed in the same hallway as the breakfast room which was nice to have a short walk in the morning. Breakfast was what I expected, all carbs. Waffles, toast, oatmeal were available. The front desk was very nice and allowed us to check in early and check out late. Parking was easy, and we went to the restaurant attached to the hotel which had good food. I paid about $75 a night, but I wouldn't stay here for $100/night.

Room Tip: Inside hotel is not very well labelled, so just start opening unlabelled doors if you are looking fo...

This hotel has a hot breakfast of scrambled eggs and sausages. On a recent visit a guest as if the eggs had milk in them as she was allergic. The server confirmed this and offered to cook here two eggs. To me this is over the top good service; I travel between Toronto and Montreal quite often and have never seen this.

We booked here for a get away about 2 weeks before Boxing Day. We arrived on Boxing Day at arounf 3:00p.m. to find no one tending to the front desk. After waiting awhile in the cold lobby (heat seemed to be turned down), someone from Security arrived. He advised me that the room we had reserved King/Jacuzzi Suite was not ready but he could take me to see another suite that was available. The problem with the suite we reserved was that it had not been cleaned. He showed me the other suite which was a really far distance from the front desk, and down on the other side of the swimming pool. I had no interest in travelling that far to a room, when they did not have luggage carts to offer guests, and I had made previous inquiries into the location of the room, as they did not have elevators. I asked to see the room I had reserved, and prefered this room more, so I asked them to clean it and we would come back. First impressions matter and I was not getting a very good one at this point I was almost ready to go to the Holiday Inn next door. Considering that this was the day after christmas the hotel no doubt had very few rooms booked, and there is no reason for a room not to be ready at 3 p.m. with such low occupancy. The room was ready when we came back from the casino. It appears that the hotel is a bit run down, they have new hardwood in the rooms but the furniture looks dated, along with the old fashioned wall paper. The ceilng in the bathroom has tiles and the bath room could really do with up dating. The mattress was very soft and we did not have a good sleep because of this.I too question as others have why at 2:45 in the afternoon someone from security is running the front desk. The fellow who greated us informed me that he is not a front desk clerk, and he was filling in. I get the point of low occupancy and trying to save money as an establishment during low occupancy times over christmas. As an ex-Best Western employee I think you should have at least one desk clerk on each shift as they know how to run the desk and welcome the guest upon arrival. The fellow who greeted me really did not know what he was doing, if he did know what he was doing the room would have been ready. Perhaps in saving money by cutting the desk clert out and having a security person do the double position you are going to lose in the long run with with fewer repeat guest returning. I don't think we will be returning, it was just too long of a process to get the room we had reserved and there is no reason for this if management runs a hotel smoothly.
