“The perfect hammock and a lot more!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 15, 2012

My husband and I came for a two night getaway last summer (yes, I'm a little slow to write this) along with our friend and were very comfortably ensconced in the two bedroom "Lawton Lodge". The weather over the weekend was overcast, and perfect for just lazing around the property. We found ourselves spending relaxing hours swinging in the hammock, reading, chatting and unwinding as only can be done in the perfect place in good company with each other and our funny and interesting host.

The location, while a little off the beaten track, is beautiful. A great location right on the river, with an expansive lawn and lovely gardens with many little spots to sit and enjoy the view.

Of course, the breakfast was outstanding and as vegetarians, we were well accommodated. Perfect fluffy omelette. The BEST blueberry pancakes we've ever had. Beautiful, fresh fruits. Wow. Really, really good. Really.

Recommended without hesitation.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at Howe Island WInery and B & B in October 2012. Our hosts, Wendy and David Jones were warm, engaging, friendly, helpful and patient. They gave us information on local attractions, discount coupons, directions and fed us magnificent breakfasts, including freshly ground coffee. Being an expat Aussie, my husband felt an immediate camraderie with our hosts (who spent 32 years living in Australia). How many places can you actually get vegemite!
We have no hesitation to recommend unconditionally this B & B and its' great hosts.

My boyfriend and I had a great time at Howe Island in early September! We found Howe Island on Trip Advisor after trying to book a hotel in Kingston and everything in the city was booked. It ended up being a good thing, as Howe Island Winery B&B was very welcoming and relaxing. It's a lovely drive (take the scenic route along the 1000 Island Parkway) and close to Gananoque where we went for dinner. In the morning, Wendy and David served us breakfast, which was delicious! They are interesting, friendly people. The property is also very beautiful - right on the river (we ate breakfast looking out on it). The only downside? We were there about 12 hours. Wish we had had more time to spend at this place! Thanks again Wendy and David :)

My fiance and I only stayed overnight, but we wish we'd stayed longer! David and Wendy were wonderful hosts, with an awesome breakfast as fare. It was like you were talking with family. The room we stayed in was Leyton's Lodge (with the ingenious toilet). Very comfortable and airey.

Anyone looking for a quiet place with a magnificent view in the summer or even for a wedding, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Howe Island Resort

We stayed for three nights at Wendy's and David's B & B and loved every minute of it. Not only our room in the lodge but the whole composition of garden, deck , water, house couldn't have been any better ! At breakfast we met interesting and very nice people, Wendy has a hand bringing all of this - beside a gourmet breakfast- under one hat ! We would love to come back ! Thank you for three lovely days !

Many thanks to David and Wendy for making our recent visit to the 1,000 Islands area wonderful. My friend and I stayed in The Vineyard Room over the 2012 Labour Day Weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Of course the Blue Moon view from the deck couldn't have been ordered but it certainly added to the total effect of the visit. Our room was very clean, the beds comfortable and we had use of a lovely, private washroom. Our room was located just off the gorgeous great room of the main house.

Upon arrival and tired after a long day of travel, we received a warm welcome with much appreciated valet service provided by David. In fact, we were pleased with the level of hospitality provided by both Wendy and David throughout our stay.

Wendy's breakfasts were delicious, beautifully presented as well as quite filling, thereby eliminating the need to stop for lunch on our travels. We were delighted to meet a lovely family from France at the breakfast table and spent some time learning about their travels as well.

Following a long day of exploring the islands, we were happy to kick back on the enormous deck (Howelywood) overlooking the water to enjoy a glass of wine (or two) and the beautiful moon.

All in all, a great place to stay. We'll be back! Thanks again to Wendy and David.

My friend and I were looking for a quiet place to spend labour day, relaxing and enjoying some bike rides and some sightseeing. Howe Island Winery was the ticket! The site is bucolic but what is most impressive is how welcoming our hosts, Dave and Wendy, were. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a quiet place to stay, with fantastic hosts and great food to go to the Howe Island Winery. My favorite time was having dinner by the water, under the fool moon listening to Dave's talk about the loons. Really precious. I will not forget this moment!

Very kind of you to provide such a glowing review! We work very hard to ensure all our guests experience as much of life on the mighty St Lawrence River as possible and the loons are part of the family. I only hope readers of your review understand the difference between "bucolic" and "bubonic" ! (LOL) cHOWE!
