“Very good but ...”
Reviewed December 30, 2011

We were staying a the l'eau à la Bouche hotel for 3 nights and we had 3 dinners at L'eau à la Bouche Restaurant, à la carte dinners are very good. Don't try to find cheap wines, they only have very good wines starting at $50.00 per bottle.
The "menu découverte" is pricy and very long, at least 3 hours, we left before the dessert after 3 hours and 45 minutes, the wines are good but the menu is a bit decieving, it is a fixed menu, no choices. Also, you have no choice on the tip, it is included on the invoice.
For the same price there is better restaurenats closer to Montreal.

“Excellent”
Reviewed July 10, 2011

We ate at the restaurant both Wednesday and Thursday night this week. We would rate it among the best 5 or so meals we have ever eaten (and we travel extensively). The preparation was excellent (we did not order the Discovery menu since I have food allergies that conflicted with the menu) and the service suburb. We felt that the price was appropriate for the food and service. In particular, Pierre (the Maitre d'hotel) was a joy. We hope to return. I would agree that the building is not fancy but we think the food and service compensate well for that.

“WAAAY overpriced”
Reviewed March 18, 2011

Nothing (good) to write home about. Very disappointing visually and can someone remind me how they got their reputation as being one of the best? Must have been a long time ago. Like some of the other reviewers, there are many other restaurants serving French cuisine that easily beat this place and for far less $$$.

“Overpriced, Overcooked, and Disappointed”
Reviewed February 25, 2011

After hearing so much about this restaurant we decided to try it for my girlfriends birthday.
The appetizers( grilled jumbo shrimps and scallops tartar) were the best part of our meal.
For the main course I opted for the Scallops, the plate I was served was a work of art, but the flavor combination did not work at all. My girlfriend opted for the fish of the day, which was stripped bass. This dish was a total disappointment. She received the tail part of the fish, which was dry, overcooked, and bland. I think we got the last piece of stripped bass, as the other clients in the restaurant were served grouper. When they came to get our plates, they asked if we enjoyed them, and we replied NO. They said , oh you should have told us, we would have changed them for you. They never came to ask how our meals were while we were eating, so we decided to eat them anyway. We figured a chef with her reputation and status would not serve a plate that was not perfect! As for dessert we tried the creme brule, which was good, but no spectacular for 12$ a plate. Finally we had 2 appetizers, 2 main courses, 1 dessert, and 1 bottle of water, this meal cost us 190$(no wine or drinks). We eat a lot better in many fine restaurants in the Laurentians, for half the price, this place is overrated!
