Needs some updating but very clean.Staff is friendly and always ready to help with anything.
The general manager,Mr Dominic,is very accessible and will go out of his way to please you.
Good getaway in the Laurentians.Sure there are other hotels with upscale rooms, but they come with an upscale price.

The location of this property is amazing! When the owners decide to renovate,I think it will be the place to be in the mountains!

My husband and I got married at the Chantecler Hotel this January and had an absolutely amazing experience with the hotel from the very beginning to the very end!
When we were first scoping out venues for our wedding we contacted a few different hotels in the Laurentian area, and many of them took a long time and a few phone calls (from me) before returning my call to set up an appointment. However, the Chantecler Hotel was on the ball, they called me back quickly to set up an appointment. From the very first appointment, they were organized, flexible, helpful, reasonably priced and extremely accomodating. They provided me with referrals for anything I needed, helped me think of all the little details and went above and beyond to help make our day special.
In addition, because we had a lot of family coming from out of town, we wanted to spend a few days with our family at the hotel the week prior to our wedding. So we planned some activities to get our families together, including: a snowman making competiton, sledding relay race, ski day at Mont Chantecler (only 16$/person/day when you stay at the hotel) and sleigh ride through the forest with Les Ecuries Chantecler, http://www.lesecuriesduchantecler.com/ (also highly recommended).
The Hotel's General Manager, Dominic Cavaluzzi, the nicest man you could ever meet, accomodated us and our quirky requests and personally helped us plan the family activities and ensured we had a space on the hotel's property for all of our activities. He made sure the hotel kept up the Christmas decorations until our wedding, January 21st, as I am a Christmas fanatic. He offered us a movie viewing room to watch movies together with our family in a private room, like our own private cinema! And if we had had more time, we also could have gone skating on the huge lake right in front of the hotel, rented snow shoes at the hotel to explore the beautiful trails on the hotel grounds, or even climbed their new ice wall - maybe next time!
The night before our wedding, when our friends joined us at the hotel, we also organized drinks at the hotel bar with the hotel's D.J., which was a great way to welcome everyone and be able to have a good night out without having to worry about driving home!
Our wedding day went incredibly smoothly, thanks to Emilie Cloutier, the Banquet Coordinator and her team. Everyone was so friendly and helpful, whatever we needed or wanted, from the Premiere Moisson dinner rolls, to the Poutine and Steamies midnight table, they helped make it happen. Our guests are still raving about the Poutine and the amazing Creme Brulee we had for dessert! They even made an outdoor fire for us on the terrace right outside our reception room, for our guests to enjoy and to keep the smokers warm!
Our accomodations were also perfect, as we had reserved the presidential suite, which has a big kitchen, cozy living room with fireplace and huge dining room, so that our families could all hang out together, cook, play games, etc... And the hotel has so many different types of rooms and suites, many of them connecting, which made it perfect for our group get-togethers. Ninon Paquette, the Accomodations Coordinator, was incredibly helpful and patient, as we coordinated adjoining rooms and suites for family and friends of all ages, with differing needs.
The hotel is also amazingly situated with beautiful hotel grounds and trails to explore, right on a gorgeous lake (with breathtaking views all around), right next to Mont Chantecler for inexpensive skiing, a 5 minute drive to Les Ecuries Chantecler where you can go for a magical sleigh ride through the forest, stopping halfway to warm yourself by a campfire and drink hot wine or hot chocolate, a 5 minute sleigh ride to the cutest little chapel, http://chapellesurlelac.blogspot.ca/, where we got married, a 2 minute drive to the best, coziest little Italian restaurant with a beautiful view of the lake, http://www.esmeraldasurlelac.com/, where we had our 'rehearsal dinner' and lastly a 15 min. drive to Saint-Sauveur, for shopping, skiing, etc...
The Hotel Chantecler is truly an amazing place where we have shared wonderful moments and created incredible memories and feel very at home. My family and I are sure to make a tradition of returning there! And I would recommend it to anyone, especially those thinking of getting married or wanting to plan a gathering with family or friends.
We will attach photos shortly.

The Chantecler is a large, and somehow old, resort. The place is generally well preserved, at least most of it. The first thing we have noticed when reaching our room, is some kind of cigarette smoke smell. It goes away during our stay, maybe because we get use to it? Otherwise, our room was clean. The furniture is out dated and sometime a little worn. But they are usually clean and serve their purpose well (like the old CTR television). Our bathroom has received some visible touch-up, but again, it was decently clean. It passes the test, without more exclamation.

On the minus side, the inside pool can benefit from a little more care. Especially the locker, where some floor cleanup would be necessary.

On the positive side, the in-house restaurant, Tre Monti. You have to try their breakfast, or the Sunday brunch, or even better, the Saturday buffet. The staffs are friendly, the foods delicious and the price fare. Plus, you have a very nice view on the lake if you are lucky enough to get a table near the large windows.

Room Tip: don't book in the "auberge" section. I have heard some horrible story about it.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 1 night and we had an alright stay. We had to change rooms 3 times because of the noise since there were alot of drunken teenagers staying there since it was the snowboarding shakedown at Mt St Sauveur. The rooms were not sound insulated whatsoever.. you could not even tell if the people next door were actually next door, or in your room!

There was also a TON of garbage laying around the site. Plastic bottles, beer bottles, papers, etc. It was disgusting. I would have been disgusted to see that at a 2 star hotel.. but this is a 4 star!!!! I've seen 2 star hotels a whole lot cleaner than this one. I found a cadbury cream egg wrapper next to the bed. Me and my boyfriend did not eat that, so that means that it was there from the person before. Gross.

As for the location: it's all on a mountain. And there are stairs, stairs, and more stairs. I coul not picture coming to this hotel in a wheelchair. It is not accessible for handicap people. You wouldn't even be able to get down to the each because there is a HUGE hill with lots of stairs to get there. I have alot of overweight family, so I wouldn't even recommend this hotel to them.

The service was ok.. but for a 4 star hotel, was just average. We did not reserve the horseback riding when we reserved the room, but when we got there we wanted to reserve, Abd they told us it was too late and that we'd have to call the ranch direct and reserve with them.. costing us $10 more! When I don't see why they couldn't have just added it on, considering you only pay when you leave anyways! The guy at the desk was also a bit rude and seemed like he just wanted to get rid of us. The girl was very nice though!

As for the amenities: You have to plug in your own TVs, the pool is a good size, the hot tub is too small and had random teenagers making out in it, the gym equipment is functional but old, there was a tennis court with holes in it, the rock climbing wall did not look safe, and the beach swimming area was tiny compared to the size of the lake!

We had breakfast at the hotel, and that was our favorite part of the stay there! It was about $15 per person, but well worth it! It is a buffet, with lots to chose from, and they have a juice bar and cereal bar and stuff all included. The restaurant has a nice, fancy decor, and we were sitting next to the window with a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains and town of Ste-Adele.

There is a giftshop selling $200 shirts and stuff too.. so if you have alot of money or want to waste the money you have, this is always a good option...

You can easily get lost in this hotel, so maybe pinpoint your location on google maps before leaving your room, or else you may never make it back.

All in all, our stay was just alright. If it would have been a 2 or 3 star hotel, I would have been happy with what we got.. but for a 4 star, it was dissapointing.

I would like to return here in the summer. Maybe if they cleaned it up a bit and were a bit friendlier and didn't make us change rooms 3 times though! Also if they made it worth paying a 4 star hotel price...

If I found a discount I'd go back, but not at full price.

I could go camping on a campground, get lost, walk up hills, and live in garbage for alot cheaper than $100 a night!

My husband and I went to the Chantecler hotel situated 45 minutes north of Montreal. Our stay was a memorable one. Good greeting and welcoming during check-in. The room had an amazing view and was just spotless.
Guest amenities were good. We had dinner on Saturday night in the dining room (buffet style). It was a real gastronomical experience. The quality and selection of food items would satisfy every guest. Price was reasonable and the service was very good. All of that with a good ambiance and atmosphere.
Overall, all of our expectations were exceeded.

The buffet Saturday night, although expensive, is one of the best I've ever had.
It's a 10 minute drive or shuttle to Ski Chantecler, which was a really good ski hill. Large terrain and good conditions.

I must say I enjoy nice things in life but this is below than average. Bought the deal on Tuango for 98$ wich was half price but I wouldn't pay more than 30$ a night. Hotel looks like a motel, bad reception service, bad experience, definitely needs upgrading. Wouldn't recommend that for a getaway especially not a romantic one. In 2012, customer service should be first especially when you have so much competition!
