“Golfing awayday”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2012

Seven of us had a golfing away day at Priskilly. From the moment we arrived til the moment we left we were treated with courtesy and friendliness - nothing was too much trouble. The food was very, very good and everyone enjoyed their meal judging by the empty plates. We look forward to returning in the near future.

I stayed at Priskilli in the first week of July 2012. I was attending a 5 day residential art course at Indigo Brown a mile or so down the road, and was disappointed I could not be accommodated on site there....until I booked into Priskilli ! WOW! The welcome is so lovely, Joy Evens makes your first visit feel like you are meeting an old and dear friend. The entrance hall and grand staircase take your breath away, and the period furniture and decor continue throughout the lounge, dining room, and bedrooms and keeps your eyes popping as they feast on the glory that is Priskilli! It is a trip back in time, and Joy is passionate about the history of the place, the and is only too happy to show you around. My room was spacious, and a little quirky in places, but that is the beauty of Priskilli - there is nothing 'chain store' or 'high street' here. Breakfast is delicious and as large or small as you like, tea and coffee are plentiful, it is almost a struggle to get up the stairs after breakfast. Would I recomend this hotel? a resounding YES, but only if you are looking fo good old fashioned farmhouse style welcome and service.

Room Tip: All rooms are uniquely individual.

We were looking for a smallish wedding reception venue, and came across Priskilly by accident.
From the moment we walked in we were made to feel so welcome by the Evans family who run this establishment.
Excluding the 9 hole golf course (we're not golfers) this business is basicaly split in two - the Y Cabin bar and lounge and also Priskilly House B&B.
Y Cabin is basically a rustic wooden cabin with a bar and lounge area where ANYONE, golfer or not, is made to feel so welcome for a coffee, snack or light lunch sitiing inside or outside. (the fresh ham is gorgeous)

The B&B on first appearences from the outside seems like a typical old farmhouse. But on the inside is a glorious sumptious house full of charm, character and period furniture. The breakfast is large with fresh local produce that is top notch!

After meeting Joy (Mother) and Rebecca (daughter) we decided to hold our reception for 45 here, with the addition of s small marquee for the band. From the moment we met them they went out of their way to accomodate every wish and desire of ours to make our day magical.
Rarely have we ever met such accomodating friendly people where nothing was too much bother. It was our day and they were going to make sure it was a day to be remembered.

We decided on a menu with a few changes to the suit various guests (vegetarians and no kiwifruit in the kitchen due to allergy) and left it to them, explaining we did not want the guests to go hungry!

We decided to stay for lunch on that day, and the ham egg and chips were so fresh they almost walked off the plate.
Joy put Wanda,- the bride first, throughout the whole period leading upto the wedding and especially on the day. Brilliant.

The day before the wedding, they laid the room and we decorated it. Stunning.

The day arrived (14th July 2012) and we finally arrived at the reception. We had chosen a sit down plate buffet. The food was as good, indeed better then some 5 star hotels I have stayed in. All fresh and local and so plentiful there was some left afterwards. We cannot begin to tell you how genuinely good the food was that Rebecca had made. Fresh ham, beef, salmon, pots, salads, fruit, vegetarian, everything was just beautiful. I do not exagerate when I say just about every guest was wowed by the food and we received so many genuine comments of praise, with many saying it was the best they had ever had. And not one single negative comment not from even one or two rather difficult guests of ours!

The desserts. WOW. The sweets were delivered on large silver platters to the tables with practically two for every guest out of a choice of three, all hand made. Ruddy heck they were nice, lol! Just fantastic. Berry cheesecake, begian chocolate tart and raspberry and cream covered welshcakes, ohh yum.

With the assistance of Rob (son) and Michelle (daughter in law to be) the day ran incredibly smoothly without a hitch. We - and importantly our guests, were made to feel like royalty with nothing too much bother. And it should be said all at a very reasonable price - far less then some places we considerered.

If you are thinking of staying here, or out for a drive and want a coffee pop in. You won't be disppointed. We just cannot reccomend Priskilly and the Evans family enough.

Phil, Joy, Rebekah, Rob and Michelle (and the lad who helped on the night (really sorry I cant remember your name)) THANK YOU for the most amazing day we ever could have had,
You should be proud of yourselves for the way you looked after us, and we are proud to have held our reception there and proud to recommend you. (The coffee is on you next time, lol)

Mark (Woody) and Wanda. - we will continue to visit you as friends again and again!

The Preskilly Forest is in a wonderful peaceful setting in Pembrokeshire.
The welcome is warm and friendly and the rooms comfortable and furnished with rather grand antiques.
The sumptuous lounge is warm and welcoming with a wood burning stove.
The breakfast is excellent, nothing is too much trouble, and very much sets you up for the day.
There is a 9 hole golf course and a restaurant serving lunches.
A Pembrokeshire gem.

What a wonderful place, not only did the family make us feel more welcome than anywhere else we've stayed they went over and above to make our stay special, the accommodation is really romantic. The food was fantastic, really great home cooking at its best. I would recommend staying here to everyone whether golfer or not. Also many beautiful places to visit within easy reach.

As I do not play golf I was a little unsure if I had picked the best place to stay, but I had. I could not fault anything about my stay.

This is the perfect spot from which to explore Pembrokeshire. The farm has been in the family for generations, it retains the feel of a working farm whilst at the same time being incredibly comfortable.

Joy and her family could not have been more welcoming, the rooms are fantastic as are the breakfasts. The nine hole golf course is in great condition and a good way to meet some locals.

We had such a good time that we changed our plans and stayed an extra night.
