We visited the black horse during a nights stay at Gatwick, from start to finish it was a great experience. The decor and exterior of the pub are so welcoming ! The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious, also very reasonably priced. We will definitely return when next in the area.

“Nice food, lovely old pub.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014 via mobile

We've visited this pub twice now. Once we sat in the bar & had to order food & drinks from the bar, the second time we were sat in the restaurant with table service.
The food is very tasty & fresh unlike some pub food.
The burgers are lovely and very filling. we've also had the steak which was perfectly cooked & served with your choice of potatoes and salad or vegetables. They
also offer a nice children's
menu, which pleased our young daughters.
All in all one of the better pubs in the area.
I would recommend a visit but booking in advance especially at the wknd is essential.

“Good value”

This within walking distance for us - actually usually its necessary as the food choice and portions are generous and the selection of Badger Ale's mean you have to try one or four. Staff are always pleasant and helpful..

“The Black Horse, Hookwood”

We were served quickly, and the food was good standard pub grub. For the price, felt it was value for money. Took a taxi back to Travelodge as it was further than it said.

“Good food, service & menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 3, 2014

We ate at the Black Horse during an overnight stay at Gatwick and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We arrived on a sunny Thursday afternoon hungry after a long drive so were pleased to be greeted with a 5* hygiene rated pub with plenty of space. My wife, daughter and I enjoyed a lovely meal, friendly service and reasonable prices. After each enjoying our main meal and a nice drink we retreated to the gardens to enjoy the sunshine and let our daughter play on the climbing frame/slide. Afterwards we took in an ice cream and further drinks (including a lovely Baileys’ Irish coffee) and had a wander back to the hotel.
Location wise, its within walking distance of Gatwick Airport and the Airport hotels so its easy to get to by car or on foot. Food, service and menu is excellent and the prices are reasonable too. What more could you ask for after a long, tiring journey?
