Stayed here three times before, once with our grand children and they loved it. Last time in a new air con room ( now the have elec 24 hours ).Staff very friendly, food good and 5 mins from the beach where you can find the best bar on the Island to have a drink and watch the sun go down,it is call Chill out bar and you really do Chill out. One thing remember to take a torch as it is very dark at night and also lots of mosquito cream as there are many on this Island.Beautiful place for children as it is so safe for them with no cars on the island to worry about.

Room tip: Try for a room at the bottom of the hill if you have children and ask for 24 hour air con.

We stayed here in air con room in April and were very happy with it,though a wardrobe or at least a rail to hang clothes would be very welcome! Room and bathroom decent size.
Had breakfast here each day and lovely meal one evening, food and service very good.
Beautiful beach and island, would definately stay here again.

We woke up at 1 a.m. and found our bed in our superior cottage crawling with bedbugs. They were under the sheets, in and under the pillows and on the mattress. They bite, they suck blood, and it itches like hell.

We found the caretaker(?) and moved in the middle of the night to another cottage. As the place was full of mosquitoes, we asked that the a/c was turned on. At 2 a.m. we found that spraying the room was not an option. Very reluctantly this was accepted without extra payment.

We had unfortunately pre-paid for 2 nights.

The a/c was switched off the next morning while we were having breakfeast, no refunds for a ruined night was offered, and no appology was given.

We did not see any activity around the infested cottage the next day, and as it is well known, bedbugs will spred from one cottage to another as the bed clothes are washed together.

This is completely unacceptable, and we cannot recommend Had Farang.

They are actually not even in a good location, and their popularity probably mainly rests on the bad reviews of resort Charly.

To avoid any doubts, we have photos of the bedbugs....

I can't honestly understand all the good reviews on here for Had Farang as we had an awful experience. I can only assume they all stayed in the nicer looking and more expensive AC bungalows.

We stayed in the cheaper fan bamboo bungalow with private bathroom. The price was good but that's about all that was. It was poorly built with gaps and holes all over the place. (I do realise the style of bamboo huts and have stayed in many budget accommodations). There was a 2 inch gap between the top of the door and the door frame as well as numerous gaping holes in the floor as walls. This is a problem as there we hundreds of Mosquitos every night. My boyfriend managed to hang his mosquito net over the door to stop so many going in. I saw one review which said mosquito nets are provided - they weren't in ours so bring your own.

The room was covered in sand when we arrived - fine it is near the beach but I would have thought they could clean it slightly better. The bathroom looked as though it had never been cleaned, sqaushed Mosquitos everywhere and that was before we started killing them!

The day we arrived there was a tsunami warning telling us to get to high ground. We didn't know where to go so obviously went to the staff for advice but they were just running around like headless chickens. We had to rely on English speaking locals to advise us.

I could forgive all of the above but the very worst part of our stay was arriving back to our bungalow late one evening to find animal poo (possibly from one of the stray cats on the island) laying on the step to our bathroom! I know I said there were holes in our room but not big enough for a cat! The only way it could have got in was when one of the staff came in to replace to toilet roll (not cleaning the bathroom at all) and they must have just let it happen or not seen. We went to the staff who struggled to understand what we were saying. One begrudgingly came so we could show him. All he did was pick it up with tissue and put it in the bin in the bathroom, no cleaning the area or anything! Truly revolting. We didn't leave the bin in our room for flies and ants to get in.

Just a few minutes from the beach. Nice and friendly place. The larger air conditioned rooms are very nice the smaller with fan are much simpler but still a good value. We stayed there with three children.
